Sokol Advanced EyeCare

I do not recommend Sokol Advanced EyeCare. They are not transparent about money owed, and they harass you over a bill six months after you pay for the product and leave. The product is also not worth the money you spend. It is of poor quality, costs too much and doesn't even last a year. I got new glasses made here less than a year ago. The doctor was helpful during check-up. But when it came time to make my glasses, I was seated with a sales rep who gave me a long list of additional things that my lenses supposedly need along with an explanation of what was covered by my insurance and what was not. They said my frames were covered. After I paid for my glasses and left the store, they later sent me an email 6 months later saying I owe them an additional $78. No explanation. Just a bill. They have been sending creditors after me to collect this debt. I asked Sokol why I owe them this. They said my frames are not covered by my insurance. This was not what I was told when I purchased my glasses. The sales rep told me that my frames were covered by my insurance. She had a print out with her and went over point by point what was out of my pocket and what was covered. I paid for what was owed, signed the receipt and left. When I explained this, their staff curtly told me to call the insurance company. I have since left my previous employer and am with a different insurance company now, but Sokol sent me the previous insurance company's rundown stating that I am not qualified for frames. Well, of course not. I'm not with them anymore. This is blatant fraud. As for the new glasses I got, the painting on the frame has already started chipping and falling away (see photos). This started happening just a few months after I got them. These glasses are less than a year old, and I only wear them at night. Why do I need to figure out Sokol's mistake? Why do I need to go down a maze of insurance hell when they made a clerical error and misinformed me? Why do I need to pay more for something that was already purchased, especially when the quality is poor? As of now, the issue is still not resolved so I am posting this to warn other patrons of avoiding this problem I am currently dealing with due to their staff's incompetence and dishonesty. Despite their guise as an independent business, they operate inhumanely just like a corporation. No transparency. Just treating patrons like cash dispensers then sending their dogs after them when they want more money. I will not be returning to this business.

I had a very bad experience at Sokol Advanced EyeCare in Madison. I paid for an expensive myopia treatment for my daughter, which lasted a year and included contact lenses and exams. However, when we went for the last exam, which was supposed to be covered, they told me I had to pay for it separately (over $183). I explained that it was part of the treatment, but they refused to accept it. I tried to use my insurance to cover the exam, but they told me they didn't accept it, which was very disappointing. I asked them to review the situation, and they said they would check whether the exam should be charged or not. After driving more than an hour to the location, I decided to go through with the exam, trusting they would resolve the issue, but later, I received the bill at home. Additionally, they provided me with written information about the prices of contact lenses for 3, 6, and 12 months, but when I wanted to buy them, they tried to charge me almost double. When I showed them the prices they had previously given me, they said it was a mistake. I checked with two other places and found that the lenses cost a little more than half of what they were trying to charge me. It is worth mentioning that the doctors are very professional and do their job well, but unfortunately, their customer service and misinformation harm their clients. In the end, I decided to go to another clinic that did accept my insurance, where they redid all the exams and procedures at no additional cost. It's a shame that Sokol Advanced EyeCare treats its customers this way. I ended up overpaying and dealing with a lot of unnecessary complications. I do not recommend them at all.

i went to sokol's for my first eye exam in three years. as a general rule, i dont like men, but Dr Todd Zarwell was a very nice man and helped with my anxiety. the rest of the staff were also great, particularly the office manager (whose name escapes me now). anyway, i recommend the place

Dr Sokol is the best doctor in town, I can say that without any doubts. Been visiting her clinic for almost a decade now and have no complaints. She gives the amount of time the patient needs and also addresses the concerns if any. The service provided is exceptional and staff is nice. Even after I have moved out of Madison, I still drive an hour for my appointments once a year as its totally WORTH it.

Haven't been to the eye doctor in over 15 years and decided to make an appointment at Sokol Advanced Eyecare with Dr. Zarwell and had the absolute best experience! Great team, friendly staff and I received my contact in less than a week.

I had been putting off seeing an eye doctor, convinced I wouldn't need glasses. But due to underlying medical concerns, I finally scheduled a visit. Dr. Zarwell and his team made the entire experience comfortable and reassuring. I left not only seeing more clearly, but also feeling confident that my future eye care is in excellent hands.

I called with a minor issue with a contact lense. Dr. Sokol was able to find time to see me within the hour and quickly resolved the problem. She is the best. I completely trust her with the care of my vision.
