I have been going here for years with Dr Heilmann and my family has been coming here for a while too. My only thing to note if you are coming here without insurance and need an additional test due to a health condition, it will cost a lot upfront. Parking is usually available (tight fit for large cars, compact cars are best here in the lot) and staff are very professional. I would recommend doing an online appt and checking off to get added to a waitlist since sometimes you don't have to wait a long time, luckily one opened up last min the next week!!
Milwaukee Eye Care is AMAZING! I had a significant vision impairment that I had been neglecting. I finally bit the bullet and went in to be seen. In the course of the last 7 weeks they have diagnosed, sent me for rapid specialist f/u, treated me surgically, and provided excellent communication and patient care.
As someone who works in healthcare, I uniquely appreciate how exceptional Milwaukee Eye Care's practice is. I never felt rushed, was always given so much time with the techs and physicians treating me. I didn't feel like just another patient, I felt "seen" and that the entire team was totatlly vested in the most postive outcome. I never felt chastised or judged for delaying what turned out to be a pretty serious eye condition. That speaks volumes about MKE Eye Care.
Dr. Hetzer saw me intially and was so personable and informative of next steps. Dr. Edmonds was my surgeon and did a fantastic job, plus called me same day of surgery to check in to see how I was doing.
Dr. Weis did my one day post surgical f/u and I was blown away by his exceptional patient care. He probably spent about 20 solid minutes going through what recovery after surgery will be and I felt so reassured and educated about the next couple of weeks.
I thank all of the team at MKE Eye Care - if you need a great doc/practice - this is the place.
I have been going here for years to see Dr Frame for his specialty. But more often than not, I am scheduled with someone else.
On my last visit, the young lady at the front desk tried to tell me they dont take my insurance, which I know they do. I even checked my coverage that morning because I need new glasses.
On top of that, I learned that they fired their optician, who was the best employee they had. I won't be spending $$ there again.
Dr Frame is a great Doctor, but the rest of the staff, not so much.
Too many hassles to deal with... Time to find a new specialist!
My elderly mother was a long time patient and seemed to like the Drs at the Brookfield office. I recently had to take over paying her bills and I have a 'past due' bill which I see was clearly paid to them several months ago thru the bill pay function with her credit union. After much back and forth and my providing proof it was pulled from her account, and paid to them, Milwaukee Eyecare says they don't have it and it can't be found. I'm at my wits end. They need a copy of the cancelled 'check', which I don't know how to explain to them when money is transmitted between parties, there is no 'check'. It does make me wonder how many times in all these past years she's been a patient she has just double paid them without question.
The staff is friendly and efficient.
The doctors are very knowledgeable. They take their time to explain any issues and they are very thorough and follow through with appointments to check on your progress.
Great service from the doc and technicians. They paid attention to the details of my needs along with guiding and coaching me through the process of wearing contacts. I would recommend this practice to anyone who's looking!
The best eye exam experience. Everyone was very friendly, professional, helpful, and upbeat. Scheduling (and rescheduling) was easy.
My spouse and I chose Milwaukee Eye Care for its convenient location, but after our recent visit, we are reconsidering. A few years ago, I noticed the judgmental and haughty attitude of the front office staff, but the doctor at that time was caring enough that I returned this year. This time, I was assigned Dr. David J. Weis, whose reviews looked great--but our experience was awful. He was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to answer questions. His judgmental tone made us feel small and unwelcome. I'm not sure if he was having a bad day or if something else was at play, but I could not ignore the possibility that bias played a role. Visiting a doctor's office is a vulnerable moment, and no patient should leave feeling belittled or disrespected.
