For 10+ years, I drive 30 minutes and pass by at least 100 optometry offices to see Dr. Petrou because of the personalized, excellent care she provides. I will continue to come here even if my insurance is out of network because she provides a healthcare experience like no provider I had previously seen. Thorough exam (even for small children) with detailed explanation of changes in eye health. She adds new technology when it is evidence-based. She went above and beyond to include my 6 & 9 year old boys in the process by allowing them to carefully look into the microscope to see my eyes and explained the basic anatomy- they're still talking about that experience a week later. Products are recommended (contact lenses, drops, cleaners etc.) but no pressure sell. I am grateful for Dr. Petrou's team.

I have been a patient of Dr. Petrou now for several years. I could not even imagine having the care of my eyes in the hands of any other optometrist other than Dr. Petrou. Her passion for what she does emanates from her from the time you step foot in her office. From her thorough examinations to her clear and concise explanation of any issues or treatments, puts her head and shoulders above other optometrist. It's definitely a comfort knowing that Dr. Petrou sincerely cares about her patient's eyesight and overall health of their eyes. My eye exam experience was good, but was not $155 good.
I selected Petrou because it was listed as an in-network provider, and based on my insurance coverage, an in-network eye exam typically incurs an estimated out-of-pocket cost of $10. Therefore, when informed that I needed to make the full payment upfront with reimbursement to follow through my insurance (they called the process open access), I naturally assumed I would be reimbursed the full amount minus the $10. In hindsight, I acknowledge my oversight in not confirming the exact payment and reimbursement details with them beforehand.
Ultimately, I was asked to pay $200 upfront, and upon reimbursement, received only $45. While my eye exam experience with Dr. Petrou and her team was exceptional, I find it difficult to justify paying an additional $155 beyond what I anticipated for a routine annual exam.
I share this experience in the hope that it may provide valuable insight for prospective customers considering Petrou.
