Maynor and Mitchell Eye Center

I made an appointment with Mitchell, and he was very nice on meeting. He does have a God complex, but I could look over that if he was a good surgeon. I had the first eye done, and after the surgery, we went in a room for him to look at, and I told him day of surgery, that it felt like something was in my eye. He said that would go away and I left it alone. 2 weeks later, he did the other eye, and I told him that day, that the first eye still seemed to have something in it. He said it would go away after 6 weeks. The check up for the second eye, I told him again about the feeling. He said it could take 6 months, and blew me off again. When I went to my eye Dr. local, that I had been going to for over 30 years, and told him, and he, of course, did not do the surgery, so after 6 months, he called their office and made me an appt to see Mitchell. I went for that appt. and he walked in all smiles, and said, "So are you ready for your surgery?" And I said I had already had it. Then he said' "So ready for the other eye?" And I said I already had it. He then changed his entire disposition. He said, "Then what are you doing here?" He was a different person. I told him that after almost a year, there was a feeling that something was still in my eye. He took a second, only, looked in my eye and said, "There is nothing I can do." I was stunned. STUNNED. He walked out of the room, without another word, and the assistant, just sat there. I was waiting for her to say "I am so sorry for his behavior'". Of course she did not. I have found out since then, that he does this a lot. Once he has done the surgery, he is done with you, no matter what problems you have. The answering person tells you to go see your regular eye Dr. Which puts that Dr. in a horrible position. seeing that he did not do the surgery. He thinks he is better than anyone else, and thinks he doesn't make mistakes at all, but he did with me, and I understand everyone makes mistakes, but you try to make it right, if you do. He does not, and thinks he is so special that he gets a pass on it. Just know that if your surgery goes well, you are good to go, but if anything goes wrong, that is just tough, and be expected to live with it. Be very careful with this man. Don't let him blow you off. Make a scene, while he is there, so others know that day, when you leave. I so wish I had done that, every time. Be aware. If there was a minus star, I would have marked that one.

Although Dr. Mitchell seems confident he definitely lacks humility. He was unable to answer basic questions about the equipment and the YAG laser capsulotomy procedure. Dispite his assurance that would provide answers, after over a month he provided no information. After several requests he waited until a few days before the scheduled procedure before responding with "I'm not comfortable doing the procedure, you should find another doctor." He provided no reason for cancelling the procedure. The staff was warm except for the woman that schedules the surgery appointments.

The staff was great and everyone was kind,warm, caring and very thorough. Dr. Mitchell was open, kind, informative, relaxed and has a great personality. I'm very pleased to be a patient at Maynor and Mitchell Eye Center.
