Yavapai Advanced Vision Center - Vision Therapy

My daughter has been seeing Dr. Stotler for an eye turn since she was an infant. She started vision therapy almost a year ago-- her academic performance has greatly improved. She has gone from a non reader to LOVING to read with much better comprehension. Thank you to Dr. Stotler and her team!

While our primary therapist, Ms Sam, was great, the therapy room was noisy and very distracting. Dr Stotler was horrible. She was very rude and condescending to my disabled son and to us. Even criticizing our parenting. Expecting a child with Cerebral Palsy to stand up for an extended period without moving to administer a test was ludicrous and inconsiderate! Then calling my son a baby and "You have to hold him like a baby" to administer eye drops was insulting as well. We will never go back to see this practice. As an eyecare professional for over 40 years, I was appalled by the doctor's behavior. Doc you need to do better!

I cannot recommend Yavapai Advanced Vision Center enough for families with kiddos who are struggling in school!! All five of my kiddos (ages 11-5) have been evaluated with Dr. Stotler and her therapy team; three for difficulties in school and two for eye turns. Who knew that the eyes could have such an impact on things like math and reading and even spelling?! The therapy team worked with my kids on eye muscle strength, eye position, sequencing, visual memory and tracking. We never realized these were issues for our kids, especially our oldest who is Autistic and has ADHD. Therapy was a nice balance of "fun games" and hard work with the therapists using great logic with the kids about how sometimes we have to do hard stuff. The entire staff from the front desk staff, Dr. Stotler, the therapy team and even the billing department have had so much patience with our family and the special needs of our kids; each staff member can greet our kids by name and even remembers things like their preferred prizes and candies and even our pets' names! A huge round of applause and gratitude for this office and all their hard work!!

While in the waiting room, I was struck by the excitement of the children as they were called for their sessions. I expected they'd be self-conscious, but were remarkably confident instead. Putting aside my own doubts, I was delighted to meet with Dr. Stotler. She was very kind and quickly found that I'd gotten an incorrect diagnosis. Rather than a life sentence as Legally Blind, I only needed cataract surgery!! Seeing a lovely picture of her own children, I asked advice for a young family member with special needs. Dr. Stotler's response showed her deep commitment to the children and adults needing Vision Therapy.

I cannot say enough Good about Yavapai Advanced Vision Center! Doctor Stotler is by far, exceptional, highly advanced and leading edge in her field. She is kind, compassionate, wise, insightful and exceptionally capable. Our son is 21 and began vision therapy here, 3 years ago. His vision correction is making great improvement. The staff and therapists are highly trained and greatly capable also. Please do not hesitate to give this Team your greatest consideration.

This office and staff are HANDS DOWN amazing!!! My significant other was in a horrible car accident in October of 2023, and his vision unfortunately got extremely damaged, and this team have been nothing but supportive and just amazing to him!! They are very highly recommended by him and myself. Thank you ALL for everything you do!

They fixed my daughters vision issues!! Her eyes were so bad, she couldn't even read.. Dr Stolter and his staff are so caring and kind! At our last vision therapy session we were all hugging and I was crying with joy! What a life changing gift! Worth every penny. Just Just do your homework and you'll get there. The absolute BEST!

Dr. Stoter was condescending, impatient and disrespectful towards us and our disabled child. She impatiently said, "hold him like a baby." because he has medical PTSD and wasn't prepared for eye drops. It was absolutely appalling experience for all of us.
