UC Berkeley Meredith Morgan Eye Center

I gave up on their optical center years ago as the quality of lenses always came back subpar. I decided to try again and it has been an absolute mess! I asked for the highest quality lenses, paid a hundred's of dollars even after insurance. The glasses have come back from the lab poorly executed twice. Nobody there seems to be in charge or following our order. I'm getting calls saying the glasses are ready but in fact they are not. It'll be 10 weeks before they're ready and who knows if they will be accurately made or if the quality will be good. Definitely our last time doing business with this eye wear center. Will order my son's glasses from a different optical center in the future.

I had an excellent experience at the Eye Center. Luckily I was able to schedule an appointment the day after I called as someone had cancelled. I waited less than 10 minutes and the eye exam was very thorough and professional. I then ordered glasses and the process was also very commendable. The glasses were ready in a week and I was able to pick them up on a Sunday. Great service.

Just impossible to get anyone on the phone to answer questions or help with scheduling. After waiting on hold for a long time, you are forced to disconnect or leave a voice message but no one ever returns the call. I've called several time over the last few days and at different times on the same day and no dice. Super aggravating that I got fitted for contacts and couldn't have them shipped to my house. Instead, they're at the eye center but I can't get an appointment to pick them up or get ordering info so I can have some for an upcoming trip. Once you're in the door, the staff is perfectly competent but just not worth the struggle.

I came in specifically for a *contact lens* exam. When I got into the exam room, the person doing my exam told me that they couldn't do a contact exam because I didn't have my old contacts. I was NOT notified to bring in a pair of old contacts or my previous prescription. I have never had a contact exam where I had to do this. It doesn't even really make sense. What if I was a patient who never had contacts before? I was taken off guard and consented to the glasses exam anyway because the person doing my exam was nice and made it seem like it wasn't a big deal. The appointment ended up taking 1.5 hours total because there were so many tests that were done - including getting my eyes dilated. The more I think about this, the more upset I feel. Usually when you get your eyes dilated, they tell you beforehand or have you sign a consent form to let you know the precautions you need to take. I had to drive myself home afterward and my eyes were blurry the rest of the day. I paid for the exam, received a very non-helpful prescription for glasses, and had sensitive eyes the rest of the day. I did not receive the service that I made an appointment for and left feeling like I had paid to be "practiced" on. I took an afternoon off of work to come in and will most likely not come here again. I also didn't see a place for client feedback, so I'm posting my review here.

I made an appointment 6 weeks ago for a orthokeratology exam. The person I talked to said the cost would be $85.00. Allow 2-2 1/2 hours for this thorough exam. Fine... I must have received over 10 texts and emails reminding me of my appointment. When I got there the clinician and her student were cordial, and nice. Their exam took at the most was ten minutes, and I was told they couldn't help me because I wasn't using their branded contact lenses. So where was the thorough exam? No this was just a consultation NOT the full exam. Then the price became $105.00. I'm sure they do good work here, but by God the communication on what they do is sorely lacking. I am waiting to hear from the director of this operation. A total waste of my time...

They took from me $1800 for scleral lens (buying + fitting), then scheduled me for a wrong appointment after waiting for a long time which supposed to be for fitting and told me sorry we don't have your lens. I had to try to fit a new appointment in my busy schedule then they told me I passed the window for a refund! Later after finally trying my lens which didn't work out, they said sorry we can't refund you, here is $200 credit! Literally the entire process is to milk your money when you still have the same visual problems. That was two months of rents I scarified to help my visual problems. I called, I emailed, I tried everything possible. But their attitude wasn't creating any space to hear from their patients. Their reply to my email shows they actually didn't even read it throughly. Stay away.

Fantastic services for my complex vision problems. The faculty and students are patient, kind, thorough and highly skilled. This is the best eye care I have ever received, I drive 275 miles to get to the Center because there is no other program like UCB anywhere in Calif. I cannot give this Center enough praise. They have saved and improved my vision. I am beyond satisfied!!

Two pairs of glasses on two separate occasions and both made incorrectly. Dispensing lab and front desk are poorly run. Front desk is rude on top of it all. Have been calling and leaving messages to get an appointment to correct the latest incorrectly made pair of glasses for two weeks now! Due to COVID I was unable to get an appointment to pick them up and test at the dispensary. It was curbside pick up only so I did not learn of latest incorrectly made pair until arriving home. Nobody answers the phone and nobody calls back when you leave a message. The medical and exam side of the clinic is thorough and very patient and friendly. If I was reviewing them only I would give a 4 or 5 star review. Unfortunately the bad taste left from the dispensary side overrides the feel good of the exam!
