My glasses broke and I came here on a cancelled appointment just to have my prescription renewed (it expired a year ago). I had a busy day at work and did not have time today to get dilated. After getting a condescending lecture from the clinician (the student-doctor was very respectful) about not getting dilated, I'll be finding a new eye doctor.
I really enjoy the clinic here. I've been coming for years with my mom when i was younger, and now I am coming here for myself. The staff is super duper friendly, kind, courteous, respectful, and very helpful. I came in for a full eye exam, and they performed a very thorough and extensive run of tests. They discovered that i have a symptom called keratoconus. Eventually, I'll require contact lenses, and I'm cool with that, but I'll always love how I look with glasses. Thank you to the entire team over at the Meredith W Morgan University eye center, Special shout out to Daisy. She was wonderful and did a good job ensuring that everything went accordingly. Thanks, Daisy, you rock!
The optometrist kept stalling and dragging out my my appointment for unknown reasons kept leaving bye room and coming back and then doing yet another exam and had me in the room going through the charades for almost two hours and I lost complete confidence that my prescription is even correct as I have been wear glasses for years and have had many appointments in which none of this visit was standard , they also stained my white shirt with an eye solution and didn't say anything about it , I noticed when I got up and looked in the mirror to see if my eyelash was in my eye . On to the lack of frames that fit my face due to my insurance coverage and not being able to work with me on the cost of lenses for my special needs made me feel the whole visit was a huge waste of my time and energy and I won't be returning or recommending them to anyone for these reasons
Service is good, people are nice. But just picked up a pair of $1080 sunglasses with two scratches on my frames. My previous designer sunglasses from there had the order lost for 3 months, picked them up and they didnt have the prescription lenses in them. Had to go back multiple times, didnt even come with the original Prada case, and the text on the frame was worn down as if they were used... Another pair had the plane of polarization flipped 90* between the two lenses so everything looked like 3M reflective tape. All 3 orders here have had one issue or another, or multiple. I may have to be done with this place unfortunately.
A wonderful caring team of eye specialty providers, i feel the caring expertise, their warmth and expert care. The vision rehab exercises are no fun but I love my team at the TBI Eye clinic in deep gratitude for the wonderful team and student-providers and staff. Thank you very much for guiding me to save my vision.
A mixed bag. Some of the folks with whom I have dealt seem knowledgeable and competent. Some seem completely bereft of knowledge and unconcerned about the impact that their deficiencies have on their clients. This variance applied to students and faculty alike. The skill and degree of professionalism wildly range from excellent to minimal. I can't comment on the quality of eyewear as mine have had to be remade twice due to lab errors and I still do not have them after ten weeks since the date that I ordered and paid for them. Hopefully the third time will be a charm. The spotty nature of their abilities and attitude might be due to the fact that it is a school.
Your eye exam is going to be longer than usual because you are being seen by students who are learning because this is a teaching optometry clinic. ***NEVER order your contacts through UC Berkeley Optometry.*** I wear two different contacts in both eyes (one for astigmatism and the other is regular daily). They told me to order a full year supply and I would get my rebate through the mail. The front desk is not transparent at all about rebates. I called to ask them to be sure I would be getting my full rebate and even asked multiple times "are you sure" after placing my order with them. They won't answer your phone and there is ALOT of miscommunication going on among the staff, be prepared for false information. I ended up having to pay $800 for my full year of contacts and only got $200 back for a rebate (not the $500 I was told I would get. The person who helped me said it didn't matter what I ordered on the sheet the student clinician gave me because it is and I quote his words "inaccurate"). This is not normal at all (even my credit card company said this is an absurd charge for a full year of contacts). So please, do yourself a favor and order your contacts elsewhere. I guarantee you, it will be a headache ordering through this place.
This is a learning center so it won't be perfect. I've experienced several of the issues people mentioned, especially at the eyewear center, but things are getting better.
And I have to say, there really are some caring and brilliant people there. They have helped me a lot and I'm really thankful.
