Dr. Mizoguchi is an amazing medical professional! He is caring and concerned, willing to listen, and responds well in crisis. I have a disease that requires periodic treatment in the Bay Area and Dr. Mizoguchi works well coordinating all follow-up care so that I don't have to make that long journey every 3 months. Humboldt County is VERY lucky to have Dr. Mizoguchi and I am grateful. His office is clean and bright and his staff is friendly and professional.

I have no complaint about Dr. Mizoguchi as a doctor. But I had an appointment for my annual checkup on Jan. 6. The appointment was made a year earlier when I had my last exam. I arrived on the 6th and was told my appointment had been changed--somebody left me a message. I don't recall receiving a message. Moreover, I don't think it is enough just to cancel and reassign an appointment without hearing from the patient. I should have been consulted, not least because the appointment they assigned to me was Apr. 3. If there had been an emergency, of course I could have waited or come back in a few days. But 3 months? I was not a new patient; this would have been my third year with them. Humboldt is infamous for inadequate medical care, but there are other optometrists. I found one on my first try and my appointment is in March.

Dr. Mizoguchi added my husband Richard as an emergency appointment recently. He was compassionate, thorough & stayed as long as we needed, giving us all the attention necessary. We couldn't be more appreciative of him as a doctor.

I'm a local ER physician who episodically needs an ophthalmologist to provide care to a patient who has an eye problem. Dr. Mizoguchi has always been incredibly generous with his time and has always gone out of his way to give me advice. (Please note that he gets no reimbursement when he does this.) Whenever it is warranted and he is able to see the given patient, he has agreed to see the patient, even if he might be tied up elsewhere. I would be very surprised to find that any of the negative reviews are warranted.

Dr. Mizoguchi is a wonderful doctor ! We are privileged to have such an outstanding doctor here in Humboldt. I feel like he is a miracle worker ! In addition to Dr. Mizoguchi's stellar work , I experienced and witnessed his sincere personal attention to all of his patients at every appointment and before and after the surgeries . I had advanced cataracts with need of a very strong correction . His accommodating staff was able to book surgery in both eyes during the month of December 2019 .Because of my severe astigmatism I purchased special lenses with hope of at least partial correction . To my delight I have 20/20 in my left eye and Dr. Mizoguchi was able to provide a "mini mono " vision in my right eye which allows clearly see the dash of the car, read a menu, cook , etc. I only need reading glasses . I highly recommend Dr. Mizoguchi .

Regarding the above very negative review of Dr. Mastroni, by Ms. Riviera, Dr. Mastroni has never worked at Dr. Mizoguchi's practice. If you look up Mastroni, (either on Google or Yelp!), you will find several angry posts regarding encounters with him. I love Dr. Mizoguchi, who is a very compassionate, and intelligent doctor. He is thorough, and consistent.

Dr. Mizoguchi is caring and very professional. All the staff is very nice and they take the time to answer your questions.
