Zuzana R. Gellner, OD

I'm a longtime patient and always look forward to my visits. She's made some huge improvements in my daily vision and minimized my need for reading glasses. I find her staff friendly and they run the office efficiently. What's not to love?

Very pleasant, took extra time to ensure my vision returned to its clearest possibility. Thoroughly checked health of my eyes. Cost of exam by far the cheapest around for those of us without insurance.

I thought the doctor was very kind and informative. She is straight to the point, and answers any questions you may have no matter how silly they may be. The reception was incredibly helpful. They did everything they could to make sure I was fully happy with my prescription and it was a good fit.

I'm sorry to say that I never got past the receptionist to see Dr. Gellner, so this by no means says SHE is a good/bad eye doctor. What I do know is that when I called and said that the patient would be a medi-cal patient, I was told I had to go there in person to make the appointment. The receptionist was on edge and very unpleasant. I went directly there, she checked, said she needed to get permission since it was a "re-exam" then had me fill out paperwork. I put our first phone conversation aside.. and thought I would look past it and work towards the appointment. Since it was a "new customer" we had a 3 week waiting period.. 3 weeks later, I got a "confirmation" call yesterday... this morning, I was called and informed, by said receptionist, that since we were now in a "new" month, she had to have the o.k. again from Medi-cal and partners.. and when she called, they declined it... When I said it was "frustrating"... she went on to lecture me that it was NOT their fault, but the fault of the insurance.. That this was new.. etc.. etc.... I mentioned that working with her has been a hassle from day one, only to be lectured some more.. I was not allowed a word during her lecture.. I was told that Dr. Gellner comes in on Thursdays on her day off to do new patients.. etc.. etc..." Whatever happened to the old "customer respect" idea?! At this point, I chose to cancel the appointment, and will go someplace else, where the receptionist is also pleasant to work with.. Sorry Dr. Gellner.. you might want to discuss with your receptionist how to work better with your "new" patients.. I'm sure I'm not the first... nor the last!

I swear by Dr Gellner. I have been seeing her since I was 13. Honestly, she used to make me nervous as a kid, she was quite brusque and impatient and I am high anxiety. Seeing her as an adult, she seems much more at ease. Anyhow, I have astigmatism, and my RX's have had to be adjusted many times. She is the only eye doctor I have had, of many, who gets my RX's right every time. She once frustrated me, as I wanted to switch to contacts out of vanity, and she shot down the idea point blank, saying my eyes were far too dry and sensitive. Not listening, I got them from another doctor while living out of state, and sure enough, my eyes were red and burning for MONTHS. I will take her word as gospel and be a good little patient from now on!

The appointment went well and my prescription is accurate. I've never had glasses before and the front desk person Sophia was very patient and helpful.

Dr. Gellner and her staff are so great. A caring group who takes care of you. We're fortunate to have them.

Thorough, thoughtful, and thus, too good to be true. Professional in all respects, which is unusual for Eureka CA. A blessing to our community.
