My dad had an appointment at 10.30am. He was called in the room and it took over an hour and he was still in the room. All the people came here were elderly. I dont know how doctors work with their patients. If they have many patients then do not overbooked their patients. They are elders and they cant wait that long for just only for an appointment. I'm not recommended this place for elders
My mom is 80 years old and has been a patient of Doctor Tran for over 10+ years.
In that time, I've taken her on a handful of appointments, and more recently I accompany her, since her health is getting worse with age.
Today, we went to his ophthalmology office, and waited roughly 1.5 hours for the appointment.
I heard my mother complain to the doctor that she was waiting too long -- he started coming for my mom.
I entered the exam room to sit and see what was going on - he then tried to lecture/shame her and give her the 3rd degree, trying to argue with a senior citizen about her perception of time. He said, "it wasn't two hours, it was 1 hour - how can I trust you if you say things like that."
She apologized, to diffuse the situation, which infuriated me. He then proceeded to say gaslight her, "you don't know what a long wait is like"- like what's his idea of a doctor's visit - a wait time of 3 or 4 hours?
I told him, "sure it wasn't 2 hours but it WAS 1.5 hours and that's a pretty long time, especially since she's older." They sometimes get antsy.
Instead of utilizing the appropriate bedside manner and trying to cajole her, humor her, apologize for running an inefficient office, or diffuse the situation himself - he let her apologize and then seemed to want more. I told my mom, let's go. I felt bad for how he was bullying a defenseless senior citizen and about how humiliated my mom must have felt. I said we don't need this. She insisted we stay and kept apologizing to him.
I was in a tough spot, since her surgery was coming up - I also wasn't quite sure how his condescending behavior would translate to the surgery table.
His disrespect of my mother was something I didn't want to put her through, especially with someone who should know better.
He saw my response, then refocused on getting her to sign some paperwork. Once she signed we walked out. I told the staff I wanted to change doctors once I got to the front office - relaying to them I wasn't confident in her cataract surgeon, especially given his mistreatment of a vulnerable patient.
Follow up: 10/29/2025 same day after review goes live.
The doctor then proceeds to call my mom's home that evening at 6:54pm wanting to read her MY yelp review once he got her on the line. I thought that was a strange request so proceeded to speak with him. He said there were lots of inaccuracies in the review. I told him he should speak to me - I wrote that review, and can guarantee it's 100% accurate.
First, you should have called to apologize to my mom - not antagonize her further.
Second, your behavior is unprofessional and unbecoming of a doctor.
I asked him if he would give me his mom's number so I call recount my mother's experience with her son since he wanted to do that with mine.
I told him she was no longer his patient and that I didn't trust him with her surgery. How and why would any doctor call someone at home not to apologize or make good?
I told him I've taken her to many many doctors and I know what mistreatment is and he was no longer welcome to call or contact her. I have an entire voice recording that he agreed to be recorded on, since we are in the state of California which is a two party state.
Firstly, take accountability for your poor behavior and do better.
Second, you are not allowed to call patient homes to harass them.
Third everything I wrote in this review is 100% accurate. Nothing is made up, false or fiction.
Fourth you don't get to bully, humiliate or harass senior citizens who can not fight back. Spend more time on your behavior and less on your fake PR responses to cover your misdeeds.
Ask yourself this Michael Tran - if you're the type of person to call someone at home to harass and further antagonize them, don't you think you're the same type of person to mistreat vulnerable senior citizens in your office. What were you hoping to achieve by reading her MY review of your office experience?
I finally had to hang up on him.
I've got receipts, and so will the California Board of Medicine, in short stead.
Dr. Michael Tran has been taking care of me for many years and I couldn't have been happier.
Dr. Tran is a very knowledgeable, meticulous and caring. He patiently examined me thoroughly every time and decided if a treatment is needed or just another appointment later for follow up. His office is very organized and timely in all of my visits, the staff is very polite and professional.
Dr. Tran and his staff are extremely professional and talented in what they do. My dad's cataract surgery went without a hitch, and the staff throughout the entire process were wonderfully helpful, courteous, and quick, with my dad spending no additional time than necessary, either in the office or the surgery center. Dr. Tran even personally called a few hours after the appointment just to check if his recovery was going well. The quality of care is excellent, and we're all very thankful to Dr. Tran and his team, and would recommend him to anyone!
