Amazing! thank you Dr. Chen and all the very welcoming staff that made - what would've otherwise been a boring appointment - so fun and enjoyable!
They had such a warn treatment and Dr. Chen took her time explaining everything to me. Did not expect that at all having picked the last slot of the day.
10/10 definitely recommend Concourse Optometry for all your optical needs. You'll be in amazing hands.
I've been seeing Dr Chen for years now and she doesn't skip a beat. Friendly, smart, funny, and personable. She's very thorough in her exams, asks important questions, and gives very clear detailed explanations that are easy for me to understand. The office is very clean, the staff attentive, and nice. Great selection of frames to choose from. There's even couple reserved parking spots for patients.
Dr. Chen and her staff are so kind and welcoming. I'm new to their practice and felt like I was well taken care of by the doctor and her staff. I will be taking care of all my eye care needs at Concourse.
I've worn glasses for about 12 years now, so I've had over a dozen optometry appointments throughout my life. However, no exam has ever been as thorough as my exam with Dr. Chen.
First off, her office staff is fantastic. They were helpful, efficient, and patient. I was a few minutes late and they were extremely understanding. They are also very responsive to emails.
When I arrived for my exam, I was taken to the back for testing before being seen by Dr. Chen. I had double the amount of tests I'd normally have at any other optometry office -- which is a welcome change!
Then, I was seen by Dr. Chen. She is friendly, intelligent, and highly experienced! She answered all of my questions, addressed any concerns I had, and was overall a joy. I feel SAFE in her care. You can see and feel the pride and passion she puts into her work.
If you are looking for a new optometrist, I highly recommend Dr. Chen!
Dr. Chen is very personable, professional, and knowledgeable.
The staff at Concourse Optometry are very helpful, friendly, and polite.
I have been going to Concourse Optometry for about 5 years now and would highly recommend anyone to visit Concourse Optometry that is looking for an eye doctor in or near Irvine.
I was drawn to this optometrist because of the positive reviews. The office is cozy and offers an array of glasses frames. Dr. Chen was very kind and offered pleasant conversations through out the exam as well. Moreover, she did a color test that I've never even experienced before. I was amazed by her meticulousness and could tell she's good at what she does.
Now, the reason for my review is because in the end I found myself feeling remorseful rather than feeling taken care of as a patient. The receptionists helped me pick some frames to try after my eye exam. Linda, the manager, out of no where while I was deciding between two frames told me that they will be closing in 10 minutes. I found that very distasteful especially as a patient that made an available appointment offered. I had no intentions of staying longer than necessary, but felt rushed and pressured.
After I selected my frames and was given a copy of the total break down. I asked what the Sapphire UV HR was and instead of explaining. She simply looked at me and held up an ad board and said, "it's the same one on your glasses now". My current glasses have a blue light filter coating on them, but I declined it this time. Hence, the confusion surrounding how the Sapphire UV is different and beneficial. The answer was unhelpful and I felt she made herself very unavailable to ask any more questions. Moreover, not once was I made aware of different options that were available besides the Sapphire UV HR. I had to find out this information on my own afterwards due to feeling conflicted.
In the end, I purchased the glasses that night due to needing them and feeling pressured to make a decision. Lesson learned. After being told by someone else about different options that I could've went with that would've suited my needs more. I called first thing in the morning right when they opened to cancel the order. I was not comfortable working with them anymore. I was told by Linda that the order was already billed to insurance and sent to the lab. All I could think about was the fact that, one, just the night prior I was told they would be closing in 10 mins and, two, everyone left promptly after. I felt very conflicted due to this too. As a result, I was told that I couldn't cancel my order and the best thing they could do is pause it only. She then added that she asked me if I was sure before collecting payment (make that as you will).
Since I couldn't cancel it I decided to call and ask if I could upgrade to hi-index to make the most out of the coating. I was able to upgrade the lens successfully and easily. The issue that I have with this is not the coating and lens that I ended up with, but the fact I had to find out through someone else proper information that would've aided in my decision at the time of.
Fast forwarding, I received my glasses in a timely manner (approx. 2 weeks). I scheduled an appointment to pick them up and absolutely love the frames that I went with. The lens wipe away beautifully and the glasses felt comfortable on. The parking is abundant and located in a nice and quiet plaza. The plaza also has many great food options to try out as well.
All in all, I find that since receptionists are the first and last ones to help you. The impact they have dictate your overall experience with the office itself. I really had high hopes for this office, but personally don't find myself returning due to my experience. I still recommend this office because of Dr. Chen's expertise. I would just make sure to do plenty of research prior and know exactly what you want.

I cannot say enough how much I loved the optometrist (Dr Chen) here! First off when I asked questions using verbiage such as 3 way mirror, epiblepharon, she actually completely understood what I was speaking about and gave me very sound medical advice. Mind you, I'm VERY picky when it comes to optometrist as my sister is one. I did a walk in and they were very gracious and very thorough with the paperwork (first time I've seen in a long time). She also really educated me on my options as I have natural mono vision (very uncommon) and as such, treatment options are not standard for me. She truly took the time to hear what I had to say and listened attentively to my needs. I will absolutely be coming back and she will be my primary OD from now on. I truly enjoyed our conversations and she was just so thorough and accounted for my needs. Last time I went to an optometrist and I got glasses and they didn't tell me until after I had picked up my glasses and had done the whole prescription procedure that glasses weren't going to be effective for me as a result of my mono vision. It was a waste of $200 that I had wished they told me from the start or even when I had finished my comprehensive exam. This place is absolutely hands down the best! Cannot recommend it enough!
Had my first appointment here on Tuesday and so far had a great experience. Cute little office right next to my work. It was very easy to make an appointment and reschedule. The first time patient paperwork wasn't bad, there wasn't a long wait either. Dr. Julie Chen was very sweet and knowledgeable. She was thorough and took the time to answer any questions I had. The staff was friendly and professional, they also entered my information in very fast. And I love that they sent me a follow up email with the recommendations we had discussed during my appointment. I would definitely recommend Dr. Julie Chen to others from now on.
