I recently had my first appointment with Marjan Farid, MD. at the UCI Health Gavin Herbert Eye Institute. She's a Professor of Ophthalmology - Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery.
I have some scaring on my Cornea which is preventing me from getting Cataract Surgery.
When she came in the exam room, I was very impressed by her energy and positive spirit. Her knowledge and simple explanation of my condition and how to fix it gave me relief and hope.
If you have any Ophthalmology needs, you'll be wise to try and get an appointment with Dr. Farid. She's the best!

Dr. Farid is the best. I had my cataract surgery with her along with new trifocal lenses that is rather new on the market. My vision was 20/20 the next day after the operation without any pains or discomfort.
It has been 4 months since my operation and it feels like a miracle. I am living without glasses for reading, driving and sitting in front of my computer. I can't thank her enough..

My experience was excellent. Dr. Farid literally has given me second sight with the cataract surgeries she performed for me. I found her extremely knowledgeable, friendly, responsive to my emails, and took the time to explain my different options. The eye examination I had prior to the work up for surgery was also very thorough. The nurses pre and post-op were professional and attentive. My only suggestion is this: go to the Gavin Herbert Eye Center on UCI campus to see her. The appointments I had in Orange were far more difficult with long waits, parking issues, etc.

The vision in my left eye was declining rapidly. I went to Dr. Farid and after extensive testing, she diagnosed my problem. I have Fuchs Dystrophy. Dr. Farid removed a cataract, transplanted a new cornea, cells behind my cornea and a new lens. I now see better with my left eye than my right. I absolutely 100% recommend Dr. Farid, she's the BEST!

Dr. Farid was a lifesaver for me! Last Thursday I was referred to her by my ophthalmologist due to an infection on my cornea. I suffered a cornea ulcer as well.
She came in the room, along with several other specialist and she and her team were so attentive and really made me feel as though I was in good hands .... AND I WAS!
Yesterday she performed my cornea transplant! I'm pain free! No bad signs! And I have an underlying health condition (Sarcoidosis) which added an additional layer of concern, but nonetheless it was a success! I'm so grateful, so so very grateful! If you ever read this Dr. Farid, THANK YOU!! ds
