Really nice people in this little place. I have my nose stick dropped from my glass. The gentleman helped me to replace a full pair of new ones. And he charged nothing! Unbelievable he made my day today. Thank you so much! I will recommend this shop
I had the one of the most disappointing customer service experience at People Optical. I hope others can avoid the same frustration.
1. Product issue & disappointing response
I purchased a pair of frames costing over $500, and the nose pad broke the next day. When I contacted the store, I was told that the replacement was not covered and I would need to pay. After expressing my concern, shop owner reluctantly agreed to replace it "just this one time. As a paying customer who did nothing wrong, being spoken to like that made felt dismissive and unprofessional.
2. Insurance claim confusion
During purchase, I explained that the insurance claim would be filed under my wife's name. The staff said it was fine and asked me to write my name on the receipt. Later, our insurance company requested a receipt under my wife's name. When I reached out, an employee initially said they could reissue it, but the owner later called and said it couldn't be done due to store policy.
We visited the store to clarify. Another staff member reviewed the situation and expressed understanding, saying they would check with the owner. However, when the owner joined the conversation, he instead started questioning why we had submitted the claim that way and told me to "put yourself in my position." It felt as though the conversation shifted to defending their side rather than resolving the problem.
3. Lack of accountability
The store's public response reflects a similar approach, focusing on defending their action rather than addressing customer concerns or communication gaps.
I left feeling disappointed and frustrated by the overall handling and tone. If you only care about frame design, you may find something you like here. But if customer service and accountability matter to you, I would personally recommend considering other optical shops.
I love people optical! I first went in there last month to get an eye exam and new glasses but had to go back today because they got run over by a car :(. I was super sad, but also worried that I would have to pay a lot and wait a while to get new ones. But just as they were the first time, everyone there was so helpful and kind. Scott helped me out this time and was able to fix them at no extra cost within a matter of 15/20 minutes! He was able to reuse my lenses (which had completely popped out when my glasses were crushed), and provide me with a new, but same, frame. 10/10, Scott quite literally made my whole day and I left their store a happier person. Thank you so much!
I have had trouble with my glasses since I started wearing glasses as a child. They never sat right on my face. I finally purchased frames that were "alternative fit" and the kept slipping down my nose. I had one optician who addressed this by tightening up the arms so that the frames hugged my face (my eyelashes touched the lenses), but finally they stayed on my face--except my ears got sore and painful. I read the reviews for People Optical and decided to try them. Maybe an Asian owned and Asian staffed business would get my needs! And they did. I came in on a Saturday (when they didn't usually work on glasses) and was told that they could add nose pads to my frames so they would sit right on my (Asian) nose, but it wouldn't be done until Monday. I accepted this because I was literally in so much pain I couldn't wear my glasses. And they fixed it in *30 minutes* and called me to pick them up!! They're amazing. They (Scott, Dugku, and another optician) took their time adjusting my glasses so that they fit. I'm still working on it, but the kindness, understanding, attention, and efficiency were unsurpassed at People Optical. Believe the positive reviews. This is an excellent business and I will be getting my glasses from them in the future!
The employees are so kind. I accidentally broke my sunglasses and they fixed it for free! They were super kind when we called them to inquire if they could fix it, and followed through with their kindness when we visited them! Highly recommend.
It may not be for all cases. But I want to address that they need to be more responsible of the poor quality glasses they are selling. My son's glasses was only about a few months old since purchase here. And the frame suddenly broke as he just grabbed to take it off as usual, which never happened to other glasses he is using. They replaced it with the same new glasses for the first time, and that was nice. And after a few months, same issue happened again. Just grabbing the glasses to take it off, and then broke at the same spot. I made another travel to this store to address that it is the glasses defect that is not supposed to happen if it was made properly. They told me it is due to my son's way of taking off because they did not hear other complains like this. Well, my son also has other glasses, which never ever happen like this even though they are the same material.
They are nice and hear you in general. But they also need to be more responsible of what they are selling. Some glasses could be bad in production and I understand it. But they should not push their responsibility to their customers to find right products with minimum quality customers expect.
I came two week ago this store is great, they went on full detail on what need for my prescription on the eye exam and Sean help me out when choosing frames and lenses. I'll be back to purchase more glasses in the future.
If you're Asian and need glasses or nose pieces added to your glasses to keep them from sitting on your cheeks, this is the place to come. I drive from Long Beach to Irvine and it's worth the trip. The guys who work here will make your glasses fit perfectly. They even swapped out my hard nose pieces for soft ones while I was using my bathroom. I came out and surprise! The very expensive glasses that I had bought at a store in LB suddenly fit and were FINALLY comfortable. Last added bonus is the store is very dog friendly!
