Costco Optical Department

I figured out years ago I can get great glasses at Costco for a great price after I get my exam at my local eye doc (who has an in-house optician with outrageous prices, not looking to pay $350 with insurance). Lots of frame options, good customer service (to those leaving one star reviews about the service, it's not the Ritz folks; you might have to say "excuse me" to get someone's attention or wait 20 minutes). I've gotten glasses here every year since 2019 & never had an issue. My last pair are so pretty and I get tons of compliments, & cost me just $40 out of pocket (with VSP).

Costco REDWOOD CITY carries nice Eyewear BUT THEY NEED TO RE-TRAIN OR TERMINATE THE TWO PEOPLE BEHIND THE COUNTER AN OLDER LATINX LOOKING MAN AND A YOUNGER LATINX LADY THEY WERE SO ENGAGED IN THEIR PERSONAL COVERSATIONS THEY DIDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE NOR ASK IF I NEEDED ASSISTANCE. I HAD TO INTERUPT THE CONVERSATION AND SAY EXCUSE ME MAY I SEE ...HE ASK WHICH ONE BUT WAS CLEARLY ANNOYED WITH ME. Is customer service in that section dead. It's unfortunate since I travel from SF to shop at the RC Costco because everywhere else in there it's a pleasant shopping experience.

Mama needed new glasses unfinished they don't care about the costumers just about your money and you can tell by the way they act,talk,walk no Manners. The glasses were ready 3 weeks ago and no one seems to care to give you a call, no Smile, no eye contact and so on and on and on.......! There is one cool thing: The BK around the block.

I would give it 0 stars! Don't come here to buy prescription glasses! They don't do full refund, which they should always tell their customer before purchasing. And as well add on the receipt that they are charging you for your lens and frame separate. Will not be returning here to buy any glasses not happy with customer services. The lady was rude! And did not explain well. Because on my receipt no where it says they are charging for the lens(glass prescription part) it only says the glasses (frame) like it's only says the brand of glasses your purchased. And also check before buying your pair of glasses else where. Which was my error, I could have bought my glasses else where for cheaper $170cheaper than here. Costco is not always the bargain which I thought it was. My glasses were $300 and else where $130 which is a rip off!!! Costco Vision center you should be specific on the receipt and put what you are charging! Like $90 for frame (based on what brand) $69 for lens (prescription). Because if I were to get my refund I would have gotten $199 and my frame with no lens and lose $100. Or pay for another pair plus $69 for the lens and get the difference. Which I didn't not get any because I didn't like their styles. The only reason I wanted to return my glasses was because they were heavy and hitting my cheeks and they couldn't adjust them further. I recommend for you to go to LensCrafters they do full refund if your are not satisfied or 30 days guarantee to make you happy if you don't like them. Also the customer service was horrible buy this young lady she didn't even bother to help me find a pair of glasses. That's how you know service is bad! DON'T COME HERE BAD SERVICE. She also seemed bother by how many questions I was asking. Because me as the consumer need to ask questions so I know what I'm getting. People should work here who want to make people happy with their purchase or else find another job if you don't like working at a customer service job. It's not that hard to find a job you like. Will not be coming here ever again!!!!! Very rude people.

Michelle and Izabel at the optical center are wonderful. They went above and beyond to fix my glasses that needed repair. They also helped me quickly order my glasses and run it through my insurance. I have been there before this visit and they have always been very helpful.

What's even the point of booking a 15 minute appointment if there will be a 40 minute wait after you show up. It was annoying how I finished the entire eye screening with no warning that there would be a wait. The staff are nice and there's lots of equipment but it was a big waste of time.

Some reviewers don't seem to have done this before. Yes, if you go out of network you will have to submit your receipts for reimbursement. This is standard across medical, dental, and vision plans and has nothing to do with Costco. In fact, Costco makes it easier by printing the specific receipts you'll need. Any rating of Costco should be based on service, availability, friendliness, etc., not things out of their control.

High price and bad service is not all of it. You are forced to do both contact lense and normal exam together, which is $129. The worst is, They told me I could get reimbursement by myself from my insurance provider. But when I got him, I find they are out-of-network! Such an irresponsible place. Will never go there.
