I was quite pleased with Dr. Ally Tran's care today! I think she just started recently, but she seemed to be the most thorough optometrist I've had so far. Aside from the standard course of tests, she used some yellow dye to check for eye dryness, which was completely new to me. Turns out I had inadvertently complained about potential dry eyes when I mentioned a constantly teary left eye. After inspection she diagnosed this to be eyelashes that were pointed downwards, which may be causing irritation. Glad to be under her care today!

I went to Borel Eye Doctors to do routine checkup and getting new glasses. Dr. Helen Lam and the staffs were polite and professional. They go over my VSP coverage with me and help picked the best options for my lenses. They gave an estimate of about 3 weeks for the glasses to be completed, which is accurate. The frame selections are a bit limited, but I am able to find an Oakley frame that I liked.

I dont know. I'm conflicted because they are nice enough and when I went to get my eye exam, it went very well. Dr. Was thorough and said she would fix my Rx to exactly what I needed. (My previous glasses which I got there at Borel the year before have issues. Both pairs.)
Anyway so I go in and pick up my new and improved glasses, put them on and immediately knew they were wrong.
The staff wasnt rude or anything but they didnt show any empathy or said a single "sorry for the inconvenience ".
Has this happened to anyone..that the prescription on the lenses is totaly wrong?

Micheal is one of the best eye doctors in the bay. Out of all the optometrists I've visited, he's been the most attentive and most helpful. Micheal literally saved me for finals, i broke my glasses the week before finals and I came in late that night and he was able to get me a new frame and is still trying to figure out how to fix my old frames which are discontinued. Highly recommended borel eye doctors!

Apparently, they forgot to order my frames after 6 six weeks of waiting. I had to call them to remind them. So I decided to just get a refund and go elsewhere. I wasn't mad, stuff happens. No hard feelings.
I ask for a refund and they won't give me a full refund!? Still charged me a fee, are you serious? You guys just got a 1 star review over $10. I hope that was worth it.
This would have been my 3rd year coming here and getting my 3rd pair of glasses. This used to be my go to for my eye related stuff. I'm not sure what happened to this place. Employee don't seem to care. From reading some of the reviews, I can see I'm not the only one that feels this way.
VERY DISAPPOINTING to see this place gone downhill. I've definitely seen this place gone from 5 star to now 1 star.
**UPDATE. The owner reached out and resolved the issue herself. Like my parents taught me "if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself." This owner did just that.

I just had an above and beyond experience at Borel Eye Doctors. A lens had fallen out of my sun glasses on Monday. I was leaving town Saturday on a hiking tour in Glacier Nat'l Park and really wanted them. Long story short, Michael ordered me new prescription sunglasses that I didn't expect to receive before my trip which I agreed to.
On Thursday night around 8, Michael calls me out of the blue and said they rush ordered my sunglasses and I could pick them up Friday. However, I told him, due to a medical emergency in the family, I was leaving on a red eye flight in an hour. Michael offered to drop them off at my house and did so that I could have them on my trip.
Not THAT is totally above and beyond customer service that restores my faith in humanity. Thank you so much Michael. Happily wearing my new sunglasses daily in Boston!
