Dr. John G. Oster, MD

I am so pleased with the service that Dr. Oster and his staff provided. He was able to diagnose my problem right away and get me on the correct treatment. Highly recommend them!

Had to have 2 eye surgery with him. The first one he over corrected my eye and I was in readers for a year 24/7. After my 2nd surgery my eyes are still completely messed up. I know need readers and distant glasses at all times. I have spent so much money and dealing with this, not to mention the emotional toll. His bedside manner is also lacking, definitely not a people person. If you choose to go don't expect a dr that is caring and understanding.

If I could give no stars I would. Dr. Oster was rude after my husband's surgery and claimed we were argumentative at the surgery center. When my husband's outcome was bad after cataract removal he insisted that his calculations were correct and shoved the paperwork in my face. He told us basically fixing the issue could make it worse. He couldn't fix it and didn't have any referral suggestions We had to find specialists in Denver for replacing the incorrect lens he put in. I would never refer anyone to him. Worst doctor we have ever been to.

I am deeply disappointed in the treatment I received at this office. I have never experienced such unprofessionalism and lack of compassion in a medical setting. During my appointment, I was belittled, dismissed and ignored. When I attempted to discuss my symptoms and medical history, I was told I was wrong and my concerns were invalid. At one point, when I shared what my referring provider had said I was told "that's not a thing." This experience was profoundly upsetting and difficult to even put into words. The situation was further exacerbated by the office manager, who showed no sympathy or willingness to address the issues. Despite being present during the appointment, she showed no solution or remorse and instead attempted to gaslight me by suggesting I was upset because "I didn't get a diagnosis", which was entirely untrue. This was one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had. I strongly urge to avoid this office. I have never had to leave a bad review like this, ever.

Dr. Oster is very knowledgeable and i totally trust him with my eyes. I have been seeing him for several years. He is a serious doctor who takes his work very seriously. If you want a fun, social experience, this might not be the doctor for you. If you are looking for a great medical experience, then I highly recommend. The office staff is very welcoming. We are lucky to have a doctor with this much knowledge and experience in Grand Junxtion.

What has happened to the once happy friendly front office lady. I called to make an appointment for surgery which I had canceled in January due to the cold/flu and I was coughing terribly. I first talked to the back office lady who was very kind. I apologized to her for canceling and she told me not to worry about that - saying people cancel all the time. She said I would have to wait for the front office lady to call me back. The front office lady called me back and was very rude telling me she had to do a lot of work to schedule everything and for me to cancel was just too much. She very rudely told me I had to promise I would not cancel and again went thru how much work it was for her to have to make all the arrangements and she refused to make my appointment unless I promised I would not cancel again. I was totally stunned. So I told her due to her attitude, I could not promise to do anything in that office ever again. She said ok and hung up. I had bought the drops that I supposedly needed in January, so I'm out over $100. I am still in shock. I need the surgery. I just don't understand.

The worst experience with any doctor I have ever encountered in my entire life. I have had multiple surgeries and had many doctors over the years. I have never felt more humiliated or belittled as a patient let alone as a person. I was treated as a throw away object and not a person. He yelled in my face when I asked questions before a serious and worrisome procedure. I would have walked out if I could have seen where I was going.

My first experience with the doctor. He's clearly very knowledgeable in the science of opthalmology, as well as being an exceptionally accomplished surgeon. At the same time, he has a warm and friendly personality combined with excellent chair side manner. His office staff is also super kind and friendly, and together they make a wonderful team. We are extremely lucky to have someone so skilled like this here in Grand Junction, and I can't say enough positive about him.
