Maybe they heard the lobby start discussing filing complaints and speaking with our various insurances about the inconvenience, suddenly people started being brought back at a steady pace and I was brought back 35mins after my appointment time. Much more reasonable. But still not great as the other patients informed me the scheduling is a regular and ongoing issue.
So unfortunately I would not recommend Skyline Vision to anyone. First I call the day of my appointment around noon, to confirm the location and I am told they would have to cancel my appointment due to them not having my referral from my insurance. I explain that I am looking at this referral online that was approved and scheduled a month ago, the doctors name, and time of my appointment. She tells me oh well we need the actual referral because we don't have that. I tell her I am looking at the referral and that I have the reference number and the confirmation number in front of me and that I'm trying to understand how to send it from the Tricare website, I get cut off and placed on hold. She passed me to a coworker who immediately found it.
Then I get here to the office, check in, fill out paperwork, only to have someone come out from the office and tell everyone in the waiting room (roughly 9 of us) that they are an hour behind. So I show up at 2:50 from Canon city with my husband and 3 year old in the car, who should have been fine to wait during the original appointment time but are caused undue stress by this inconvenience. This office made us feel like they do not respect patient schedules, times, or stress caused by their poor planning and preparation for their patients.
I'll start by saying that I was there as support for my 86 yo Dad not myself so I was able to observe quite clearly. Second, I believe that knowledge is paramount but friendliness matters a lot to me.
In order of operations: one should know that the parking at the Sandalwood location is not great. It's mostly street parking so there is a bit of walking depending. I saw 2 cars going the wrong way through it as well and it's pretty tight so be aware. At the front desk, we were greeted by Mike- he was very friendly and welcoming- just what you need at the front desk. Thank you, Mike!
Waiting room is spacious and comfortable so nice place to wait. It was there I had interaction with a tech, Regina. Regina was dilating a patients eyes in the waiting room- which was odd to me but ok. Regina couldn't muster a smile but also ok. Not our tech. We were called back by our tech whose name I do not know as she wasn't wearing a name tag. She was not very friendly at all. Seemed competent in her work but didn't seem to be a very friendly person which is a shame. They should remember that people don't want to be there- and a little friendliness goes a long way. Next we met Dr James Burden. Now THIS GUY was all your want- super friendly, super knowledgable and really helped put us at ease as far as what to expect. Thanks Doc! Can't wait for March! And then our surgery scheduler, Selena, was great as well- friendly, organized, informative. Great interaction to end the visit.
4 stars and not 5 because the techs there have some work to do on how they interact with their patients IMO. Crack a smile, don't look bothered and at least act like you enjoy your job. That helps the customer feel like they made the right decision. But truly 5 stars for Mike, Dr Burden and Selena. Good start. Hoping that surgery and after continue the goodness. We shall see. Literally.
Love the convenience of this place and the competence of the doctors. Staff that I can kid around with is a bonus. They told me I had a Cadillac in my eye and wanted to remove it. I've never even owned a Cadillac, but didn't want one in my eye, so I told them ok. Doctor Kommana took it out and put a lens in its place. I did not know Cadillacs could cause color distortions. At any rate, she did it all without any pain what-so-ever. Now I see better and am happy because Dr. Kommana is very pleasing to look at. They say I have a Cadillac in my other eye too. She can take a knife to my eyeball any time, cause she makes my wife look better too. If you want to see your wife, or your life, in a new light, I recommend the folks at Rocky Mountain, cause they rock.
Great staff! Getting in and out of the parking lot can suck.
Showed up at 2:45 for my appointment at 3 , waiting for over an hour just so they can tell me they can't see me because I was put on a no-show list, what kind of crap is that...
The staff is great, but their accounting is SOOO upside-down & due to their incompetent accounting & billing department, that have TOTALLY screwed up my account I have canceled all my upcoming appts including any serious procedure appts. STAY AWAY!
The people I encountered were professional, caring, and empathic. Dr. was very informative using words that the average person can understand. He and the techs were amazing. I felt very comfortable and knew I could trust them. What a great experience! Haven't felt this way since Dr. Murphy retired.
The Skyline vision center is not capable of providing a straight answer as far as scheduling surgeries. I asked the scheduler when I needed to schedule the exam in order to have the surgery in the month of April. She said the surgery could be anywhere from 2-6 weeks from the exam. The exam can't be any longer than 90 days from the procedure. The exam was February 13th and they scheduled the procedure May 6th. Eleven weeks and five days! That's one week shy of the 90 day limit and falls right in the middle of a planned trip with paid reservations. I will have to reschedule for later in the year, which will be my 3rd exam @ $50 a pop. It's impossible to schedule with this facility.
