Did Refractive Lens Exchange. At 48 years of age, legally blind (without contacts or glasses) my entire life and with my near-sight starting to go, I took the plunge. I was not disappointed!
I opted for multi-focal lenses and do not regret this; I now have 20/20 vision; near, intermediate and far-sight!
There was a transition period; eye/brain coordination had to go in completely but that was pretty seamless. I could read extremely small writing right away. My eyesight just seems to get better and better. I did this in 2023 (August). It is now Jan 2024. Lights do look different at night but mainly because the focus is sharp. Hard to explain this. I can see lights within lights clearly, if that makes any sense. My night driving is fine and I have no issues.
The procedure itself is fast. 10-15 mins an eye. Done two weeks apart. It was pretty amazing. Had to get a suture in left eye (the second one that was done) because the prescription was higher in that eye. So it was very red. But (once my initial freak-out was over ; don't let this scare you off), this cleared pretty fast and no issues.
Dr. Toppino and staff were professional and they know their stuff. The service was great! They walked me through the numerous appointments so there was no confusion. Seemed daunting to me when I heard how many appointments there were but it wound up being simple and no confusions.
