I have been to Dr Hanzlik for several years and do not agree with any of the negative comments about him/practice. I have never had a negative situation with him or staff. He did some eye surgery for me and went real well. Guess some people expect more than what is normal. I would not hesitate to recommend him or his office.
My experience with Dr Hanzlik is different than many other reviewers. Dr Hanzlik performed cataract surgery on me 20 years ago and all went very well till today. He is very professional and courteous. I am not currently using him because of my HMO insurance. She is treating my 96 years old mother instead. I do agree that the front desk staff could do better at times so I go with 4 stars. However, this issue will not prevent me to continue seeking the help is Dr Hanzlik.
EXCELLENT and very professional Doctor in every respect! As stated in some other reviews, sometimes there is a little wait, but if I was the patient having surgery done on my eyes in the morning, I wouldn't want the Doctor to rush through my surgery just to hurry back to the office to see other patients who are there for exams...and usually routine exams at that. My wife and I were referred to Dr. Hanzlik by our Primary Care Doctor when we moved to Orlando 13 years ago and we couldn't be happier or more satisfied! We both feel very lucky to have found him. Although it's not as critical to us as the Doctor's great ability, it's also worth noting that his entire Staff is VERY friendly, efficient, and professional!
I would like to add this review on the bad service for Dr. Hanzlik today. My wife and I made an appointment for 2.45 pm drove 45 minutes to get there arrived 10 minutes before the appointment time. When we got there, we checked in but noticed quite a few people in the waiting room so we waited outside the room until there were less people to protect against covid. We are always on time that's why an appointment was made. My wife called in the morning to confirm the time and was not advised the doctor may have been running late. This is not the 1st time this has happened. You can accept 10 maybe 15 minutes late not unreasonable. After 40 minutes waiting, we asked the receptionist how much longer we would have to wait as we were 40 minutes overdue. She told me may be another 20 more minutes or more. That was not correct as there were 5 more patients in front of us . I asked one of the patients what time his appointment was he told me 2.00 pm - It was now 3.20pm and he had not been seen yet so we estimated the Doctor was running at least 2 hours behind. What bugs us is that they have our telephone number they could have called advising us to come later as the doctor was running late. I see by other reviews this seems to be the quality of service. We now need to find another Doctor for our eyes. Good news is we have a choice. I hope Dr. Hanzlik reads the reviews and gets his act together. It seems to be the norm at this practice. So New patients before it you want to see this doctor allow at least 2 hours more from your appointment time . He is a good doctor but somehow believes waiting for 2 hours after your appointment time is okay. Its not!!
Negligent, no consideration for the patient. Did my eyelid surgery in the office, promised it wouldn't hurt. He lied to me, the pain was almost unbearable. He traveled abroad right after a,nd a nurse was who removed the stitches. He didn't see me. I was disfigured for over a month, had no post surgery assistance. My allergist doctor was who prescribed a cream to improve the swelling. Dr. Hanzlik only saw me after 3 months, when I waited 3 hours to see him. I said the surgery had left me with a lump in the left eye and little fat bags, that I didn't have before, in both eyes, which he didn't reply and told me to come back in 3 months. When I came back, expecting to resolve my issues, a nurse saw me and said that he was not in the office. I walked out and never came back.
Too many problems with this place. I went in for a simple eye check up and a new glasses prescription. Upon arriving, I was told that they would take my debit card before I was seen to pay any co-payment without the need of me going back to the front desk after my exam. Thus they took my billing and payment info. I sat there past my appointment time, the lobby was full. Was seen late and was rushed through the exam without much attention to detail. (I've already made the decision to find an eye prescription somewhere else with more care as I feel what I was given wasn't accurate to what I needed.) Upon sitting in the hallway, a few patients had a conversation and they both had the exact appointment time I had. That makes three people with the same time. A display of wonderful scheduling error. I would of had no problem if they called before my appointment to reschedule due to such an error, but instead they thought getting a bunch of people through the door was better for business than the quality of health that should of been given. After finally seeing Hanzlik himself. I discussed with him that I felt that my eye prescription wasn't right and that I was rushed. He insisted that nothing was wrong and decided to quickly give me another go with the eye chart. (Keep in mind my eyes were dilated which any doctor would know that any eye exam would be a false score due to the eyes not being able to adjust appropriately.) With his smirk attitude of him being right and more pressure to rush out of the office so they can see another person, he simply wrote my prescription and I left unsatisfied. With such a poor experience where they let nurses decide what you need and the doctor just fills out a form. They had the nerve to send me my bill which should of been paid at the front desk as I was told. However, I know that with my insurance, I get a free eye exam every two years. On top of this, they already have my info and my signature if the co-payment was justified. Every time I call the number on the paper that is given to me to sort it out, the office just so happens to be "closed." I highly advise you to see someone else, as I'm sure Hanzlik is a good doctor, but not when it comes to simple eye exams.
Ingrid at the front counter was not only rude but she accused me out of no where for something I never said. I was in the lobby saying hi, asked to pay the surgery out of pocket, and that's when it happened, in front of a full waiting room of people. She says outloud that I supposedly said, "she didn't know how to do her job." I was not only shocked but completely embarrassed because I just walked from the hospital. I have not slept and this individual is doing this. I came to get meatal removed from my eye. This is already scary.
DO NOT RECOMMEND
I had been referred to him by my PCP who thought there was a link between my health history and my ongoing eye problems. She sent a note to him specifying the condition she thought I had. He completely disregarded the inquiry and prescribed me medication. He did not order any blood tests or look into the issues I had the entire year. The symptoms worsened over the next few months and he admittedly had no idea what the problem was. Frustrated and scared, I finally went to a different Dr in Clermont who took the effort to look into my issues. He ordered tests upon my consultation, noticed my proposis/uveitis and gave me polarized glasses and coordinated with my other providers. Thankfully through GOING TO A DIFFERENT DOCTOR I was diagnosed with Lymphoma, and by that point I was in danger of an infection going through my blood brain barrier and was immediately hospitalized. I ended up having to relocate for care and became disabled. I do not put the blame entirely on him, but had he followed up on my PCPs concerns 8 months earlier it would've been diagnosed sooner. He dropped the ball.
