My wife and I are veterans and my wife was referred here through the VA. She came here about a year ago and had a good experience. She saw Dr. Brown, got a prescription, glasses and contacts and the experience was overall positive and the staff was pleasant and helpful. Fast forward to today. She had an appointment for a new prescription, this time she saw Dr. Elizabeth Dow. She was unprofessional and a terrible reflection on this practice to say the least. From introduction, she spoke to my wife condescendingly, sort of like an unpleasantly rude Ms. Rachel. Her questions were accusatory and terse and made my wife feel very uncomfortable. It seemed very much like she was accusing her of malingering or something, suffice to say my wife has very poor vision and requires astoundingly thick glasses and a very specific type of contact lense. This was at 0830 in the morning on top of it all, this sort of behavior 1. First thing in the morning, 2. By a doctor, 3. Towards a veteran, 4. Unprovoked in anyway shape or form, is inexcusable. I can't even fathom why someone would treat someone so badly whom they did not already have a problem with, but especially in a customer service role. This was an awful experience and has colored to tone of the rest of our day and because of this I cannot give a good rating. I would only go here if you have no other choice and in that event I would specifically avoid Dr. Elizabeth Dow.
I have been going to JaxVision since 2019 ( I believe) and seeing Dr. Brown { GREAT SCOTT! if you know, you know} from day one. This office has been nothing but courteous to ALLpatients/customers ! The wait times have been appropriate to patient "load" in this office. I would recommend JaxVision to any and all waiting to be seen. And on a personal note, when I was seen by Dr. Brown in May of 2022 and again in November, I had gotten married on Memorial Day weekend. At my appointment in November, Dr. Browns first sentence to me that day was " How was the wedding?" ! All of the patients seen by this doctor and he remembered I had planned on getting married in May ! So think about that a minute before deciding on an ophthalmologist/optometrist.
First time at this place from the VA for a routine eye exam. The staff was friendly and pleasant. However after check-in I sat and waited 45 mins pass my apt time to be seen. I watched the tech that eventually called me sit at her desk in the back office on the phone the entire 45 minutes. Patients that come in after me were being called ahead of me. Won't be coming here again.
UPDATE 3/24/2024
I had taken a field of vision test at the specialist I was referred to (a while back) and there were no issues with the results, unlike at Jax Vision Care which prompted the referral in the first place, and neither the tech nor the doctor seemed to care. It looks like my concerns about the test being administered were valid and the outcome correlated with the experience of not having been positioned well. Had the test been administered properly or at least redone, I can't imagine that a referral to a specialist would have been needed, and therefore the additional expenses of an MRI and appointments with the specialist would not have happened. Jax Vision Care ended up costing us over $1000 due to their negligence. We will no longer be using Jax Vision Care for ophthalmology.

Always a good experience with Dr. Brown. The person prior to seeing him who administers tests seems to be hurried and I feel rushed. The last time I was there she administered a field of vision test, and when I raised concerns about placement of my face relative to the unit and expressed that I was unable to view everything consistently and felt the results would be inaccurate, she was dismissive and didn't change anything. I did bring this to Dr. Brown's attention and he effectively dismissed it too, which resulted in a referral elsewhere, two appointments and an MRI which were not cheap. I can't say for sure whether the field of vision test results were actually skewed, but I didn't feel comfortable with the outcome based on my experience. Those conversations did not assuage any of my concerns.
The person who sees patients prior to the provider should be able to do her/their job without feeling that they themselves are rushed and subsequently end up rushing patients. I don't know whether the practice is to blame for this, perhaps by making her workload too heavy for one person, or that's her tempo, but I appreciate patience and a desire to ensure that the patient is comfortable, properly placed and that the outcome is as accurate as possible.
I have called and left several messages and no one has responded. You can't call directly to the office, there's a call center that takes your calls and nobody returns your calls. Been calling for days and still no response!
My experience at Jax Vision Care was a very pleasant one. The staff was nice and helpful. The facility was very clean. The wait time was short and the doctor was patient and professional. I would recommend Jax Vision Care to everyone who would like to have an outstanding, punctual, reliable service. The facility is the best, the doctor is very friendly and explains everything to you about your procedure. Please check out Jax Vision Care and find out what I mean. Thank you Jax Vision Care. They also have a wide variety of frames for you to select from at reasonable prices. They also accept most insurance.
Great vision office. I needed both an exam and new lenses. The appointment process was easy and able to get a time convenient to me and within a few days of my inquiry. Once there Dr King did the eye exam and she was very thorough, quick and made me feel good on my eye sight. Last I had the pleasure of working with Kurt for new lenses for my frames and he made that process easy and helped me pick the best options for my frames/needs. Will definitely go back and recommend to others!!
Counter staff was friendly and considerate. Doctor was pleasant and professional. I arrived 15 mins early for appt but was not called back for eye exam for almost an hour. I was 3 mins before leaving when they called me to the back. I would not have been rude but I expect it would have taken an argument to get a refund on an eye exam. Poorly managed business.
