Great service and great prices! I saved over $900 by not choosing to buy at Myeyedr! That was on two pair of glasses. Dan is a great guy and answered all my questions!
It's been a while since i had gone to united optical outlet a few years give or take , but i saw an add and i figure i give them a review, from the time that i was a kid till just recent my mom would get my glasses from there and once I became an adult so did i, what i like about them is that the prices of the frames are good and there is never a hidden cost. My vision insurance contracted with them so i will be going there to get my eye glasses and that of my family. I never ever had an issue with them and i will say my prescription was always right and my glasses were durable and at the same time inexpensive.
Our house burned down after my son had just gotten his glasses. I called while my son was in ICU told Dan and he made a new pair for my son so he could see . He made the glasses a gift to us. I will use United Optical until they close.
I am 65 years old and my parents used to purchase their eyeglasses from Dan's parents company on Hendricks Avenue in Jacksonville, FL. Dan took over their business when they retired. When I married and started needing reading glasses my husband and I started doing business with Dan on 103Rd Street on the Westside. Our family has had nothing but exceptional service and the up most respect for their family. They go out of their way to be helpful and are always polite.
Buying my glasses over the years here. I have them done with photo grey in glass. Other shops only do 'plastic '. Mine adjust to sun or inside with photo grey. With plastic they won't protect your eyes because they won't get dark enough. I even get a phone call to tell me there ready. Never had a problem here. Lived long enough to know that when I'm doing nothing no mistakes get made.
As a veterans spouse, I visited United Optical on 4/25/2013 to purchase eyeglasses. After the eye exam ($45.00)and selecting frames, I was told they would be ready in 2 weeks. After waiting 3 weeks, I contacted them and was told the crizal lenses were on back order and they should be in any day. On 5/14/2013 I received a call that my glasses were in. I picked them up on 5/15/2013. After trying them on and numerous adjustments, I told them something is wrong with the right lense. I was told to wear them for a couple of weeks to get used to them?? I returned 6/05/2013 to complain further about the right lense. The "doctor" re-examined my eyes and proceeded to tell me "I must have a health issue"! I persistently insisted the lense is not right!!! With utmost frustration I left and decided to get another opinion. With the 2nd opinion, the right lense was examined & I was SHOWN & TOLD how this lense was incorrectly done! I returned to United Optical to inform them of the 2nd opinion and to request a refund. I was told there would be a 20% lab fee deducted from my total. I asked why, since this was the labs fault?? My total for these glasses was $310.00, which included the eye exam, frames, and lenses. They proceeded to deduct the 20% ($62.00). I received a check in the mail for $248.40 on 6/14/2013. I understand their policy about the 20% lab fee, but this was their fault, not mine!!! I contacted the VA and filed a complaint, they did not like what happened, but because I was a spouse of a veteran, they could not take action. This company deals with veterans and elderly. If this was done to me, what are they doing to others? I made 4 trips to this business (84 miles round trip)and NO ONE bothered to listen to me or CHECK the right lense. I was immensely inconvenienced and had to go elsewhere to purchase another pair of glasses. I feel I should not have been penalized $62.00 for their inadequacy! I would like to warn ALL consumers to NOT use this business as they do not back up their product!
I would like to have a refund of $62.00. I was told by the VA to file a complaint with BBB. If this had happened to my husband (he being the veteran), they would have taken action against this company and removed them from their network but they will be keeping a close watch on them!
I have tried to get glasses from Dan at United Optical on 103RD ST, in Jacksonville, FL for a couple of weeks now. I am a veteran, and I get the glasses curtesy of the VA Eye Clinic here in Jacksonville. I get my eye axam once a year at the VA, and then I get a pair of glasses from one of the vendors off of their list of approved vendors. United Optical has a monopoly on this process, because 9 out of 10 of the vendors on the list are United optical. I did the same process again this year, but still do not have glasses. My eye doctor wrote my prescription for any glasses up to and including safety glasses, because I use them at work too. She told me that that way I was approved for anything up to the specialty safety glasses. I thought that was great and would be no problem. That was before I met Dan.
The first time I went to his United Optical store, he only had a couple of pair of the safety glasses, and they looked very bad. They had blinders on the sides, they fell off my head constantly, were very flimsy, and just looked horrible. So, I told him what the doctor said and chose a good looking pair of sturdy regular glasses. Dan refused to belive me, and refused to give me anything other than the more expensive, but hideous looking, flimsy safety glasses. He said I needed to contact my DR, and have the RX changed. So, I did. She faxed him a letter saying that I do not want the safety glasses, approving me for regular glasses, and left me a voice message saying the same thing. The next time I had off work I went back to Dan. He again refused to give me the glasses that my DR and I want me to have. He said the prescription is still not specific as to weather I can give you glass lenses, blah, blah, blah. Obviosly he wants the extra money for the safety glasses. He even suggested that I pay a little extra for some reason at one point. He was very argumentative, and ignorant as to the RX, the doctors directions via the RX, the doctors directions via the fax, the doctors directions via the clearly stated voice message, and my wishes.
This has been a very bad and difficult experience thanks to Dan, and the monopoly that his United Optical has on the VA here. Can anyone rcomend a good customer oriented, non scamming eye glass shop?
Excellent service. Our family has been coming here for 26 years. They have always been more than willing to make sure that you are happy with your glasses.
