My wife and I recently had appointments at Largo Family EyeCare. I want to start by clarifying that this office is located inside LensCrafters but is an independent practice. Our experience with the LensCrafters retail side was excellent--a definite 5-star experience--and this review does not reflect on them.
Regarding the medical side, I want to be clear that I had no problem with Dr. Corey or the actual eye exam itself; the clinical portion was professional. However, my issue lies with the office policy regarding retinal scans. The day before our visit, we received a text stating an "eye health image" would be performed for a $37 fee. The text asked if I had any questions; I did not, as I am familiar with these scans and fully intended to simply decline it upon arrival, as I see an ophthalmologist and have no specific risk factors.
When I arrived and declined the scan, the technician told me it was required. Dr. Corey eventually joined the conversation and was very direct: the scan is part of their protocol, and I could either agree to the $37 charge or cancel the appointments. For the sake of convenience, we stayed and paid the fee, but it felt wrong to have an elective, out-of-pocket procedure made mandatory as a condition of being seen.
Interestingly, later in the exam, Dr. Corey offered me traditional dilation. If the $37 scan was so vital that he would have canceled our appointments without it, it's confusing why the clinical gold standard (dilation) was still offered as an option afterward.
I've always felt that if these scans were truly a medical necessity for every patient, insurance would cover them. Making them a requirement feels less like a medical standard and more like an unnecessary add-on. While the doctor and the exam itself were fine, we won't be returning to this specific office due to this "take it or leave it" policy on extra fees.
From my initial inquiry into finding an eye doc for my ailing eye to cash out, the entire experience was professional, prompt and caring.
The office personnel reached out to me immediately to correct my appointment type to make sure I received the care and treatment necessary. They were very upfront and clear with my possible exam expenses (being self pay can be known to come with surprise invoices). The appointment was kept in a timely manner and there was an unspoken respect for each other's time. (We all know how some other medical offices aren't known to be punctual.) Dr. Afsordeh was sweet and personable. I would HIGHLY recommend this location for your eye care! Thank you!
Dr. Korey Young provides truly exceptional care. He went above and beyond to ensure I received the correct contact lens prescription, taking the time to get everything just right. He communicates with kindness, clarity, and the utmost professionalism not only to myself but other patients as well. He is setting a high standard in patient care. Thank you
Dr. Young has been awesome helping me get contacts for the first time in my life. He's been very thorough, deliberate, and patient with me through the whole process as it's taken a few visits. I highly would recommend him. The first day after I got my contacts, I couldn't get them in right at home, so I drove there, unannounced, without an appointment, and they all still took the time to help me. Awesome place.
At first I was skeptical with them being inside a commercial lense company. But they are so welcoming, honest and informative. I highly suggest making an appointment because even with an appointment they were a bit behind but when I was seen and the care I received made the wait worth it.
Very nice experience. This was the most in-depth eye exam I have had, and they took the time to explain each step of the process, show me images of the back of my eye, and answer all my questions. They also provided me with 2 different prescriptions - one for daily wear and one for computer work.
Would highly recommend.
Dr. Young and the technician took great care of me. I'm 27 y/o and it was my first time trying contacts (I'm very flinchy when it comes to touching my eyes), and they both stayed there with me for nearly 3 hours helping me put them in and take them out myself for the first time. I won't be going to any other eye doc for now on!
The staff here were all super friendly & super polite. They were very patient with my dad, who had a lot of questions. One girl there went above & beyond to show my dad the best options of glasses to choose from since Medicare doesn't cover glasses. There was also no pressure to buy or trying to talk him into buying anything right that second. We were referred by a family friend & I would gladly recommend them to anyone else!
