Paradise Eyes

TLDR: slow & VERY unhygienic; unprofessionalable & does not seem to be very knowledgable. Do not see Dr. Blom. I would not recommend this location for several reasons. I waited for at least 30 minutes before being seen. I was seen by Dr. Blom who walked around with the same pair of disposable gloves on. I sat in the waiting area at a little side table with chairs. When Dr. Blom came out and called my name, he first went to the front desk to grab my chart, fiddled with a bunch of pens, touched the front desk counter, touched the glass wall separating the areas, and then did not wash his hands or change his gloves before doing my exam. I got my eyes dilated. He did not wash his hands or change his gloves before touching my eyes to dilate them. I was sent to the waiting room to wait for my eyes to dilate. During this time, he called back another patient, still wearing the same gloves & touching the patient chart. After he completed this patients exam, he called me back again to assess my eyes after the dilation solution kicked in. HE WORE THE SAME GLOVES. How do I know this? I asked him if he changed his gloves after seeing the last patient and he said "no". He then stated, "I usually don't unless their eyes are oozing or crusty". Absolutely unacceptable. I asked him to please change his gloves which he did without hesitation. Immediately after this request, he asked me what I did for a living. "I'm a nurse", I said. Regardless of my profession, it is standard practice to wash your hands upon entering and leaving a room, let alone changing your gloves in between patients. Additionally, I have bad allergies. I take Cromolyn eye drops, but they didn't seem to be working because my GPC is still not resolved. I have not worn contacts in 6 months. I asked Dr. Blom what he would recommend. He recommended adding Pataday in addition to the Cromolyn. I notified him that I already tried this for several weeks and it didn't seem to be working. I inquired about other options. He said, "I would just try taking both of them again until it goes away". He also mislabeled Pataday as a steriod. A week or so later I ordered glasses on Eyeconic. Today, I called Eyeconic to get a status update on my glasses. They told me they needed additional information before they can proceed. Missing on the script was the name of the practice, practice address, phone number, fax, and expiration date. Dr. Blom completely skipped these on the paper script. It takes ~2 weeks from the date of purchase until the glasses are delivered. The prescription was not completed in it's entirety. Now, because of carelessness & attention to detail, my glasses are delayed. I would HIGHLY recommend this practice automate this part of the process so that simple things, like the practice address, is not missed on the prescription. I am very frustrated and disappointed in the lack of professionalism by this provider. I will not be going back to this practice.

Dr. Tate was extremely rude to my husband when he asked a question about the strength of the prescription. He left out a room with another patient to chastise my husband at the counter. He told him to take his form and go somewhere else. Very unprofessional. I will be reporting him to my insurance company.

I highly recommend Dr Hays - I would give him 10 stars if I could! He went above and beyond at every step - truly listening to my child, taking extra time, and thinking outside the box to figure out what was going on. He didn't just rely on the machines, but used his own expertise and careful judgment to piece things together and identify early signs of a potential vision disorder. Thanks to his thoroughness, we were referred to a specialist in our local area right away, and he made sure our chart was shared so the transition was seamless. Even the specialist commented on how unusual - and impressive - it was for a routine eye exam to catch something like this. If you're looking for someone who is not only smart and skilled but also patient with children, caring, proactive, and dedicated, this is the doctor you want to see.

Dr Evan Hays is great. He has and awesome personality and very nice.
