I have been a patient of Dr Strom since he opened his practice here in Sarasota. He is extremely efficient and explains everything very clearly. He and his office are very friendly and accommodating. He also did my cataract surgery. I recommend him highly
Absolute best. Friendly staff, professional and Dr Strom has a very kind and respectful demeanor. And you can never forget the address - 2020 S. Tamiami Trail !
*Adding to my review: After checking in (never a long wait), one of Dr. Strom's highly capable and well educated assistants will see you. They're extremely thorough and you never feel rushed. They're polite, but friendly. No, "Hi Sweetie" or "What's up?"
Then Dr Strom, who is also a highly skilled surgeon and well respected in his field, will greet you, with just the same amount, if not more, respect and genuine care and concern.
I was experiencing "floaters" in both eyes and I didn't realize the possible severity they could cause. Dr. Strom was able to see me right away. He explained clearly in non medical jargon to be absolutely certain I'd understand what was happening. He also allayed my fears when my vision was diagnosed to not be in any imminent harm.
After checking out by the before mentioned incredible staff, I always leave happy and feeling positive. The whole experience is streamlined and efficient. I no longer feel seeing my ophthalmologist (or eye doctor) is a chore!
I was diagnosed with blepharitis here in which there's really no cure. I was told to wash my eye with Johnson's baby shampoo and hot compresses. Neither worked. I stayed in severe pain with a blown up swollen eye! They couldn't help me. Took matters into my own hands and started applying castor oil to my lash lines at night. Basically cured me. Hopefully someone reads this and it helps save them like it did me.
Warning to new patients:
This has to be the most pretentious doctor's offices I have ever encountered. I have had appointments, cancelled, and rescheduled with prominent doctors all across the country in major cities that are trained in some of the best programs in the nation, but this small town doctor with unimpressive credentials is unreal with his pretentious policies and inflated ego.
I called the office to make an appointment, and I was told it takes six weeks to make an appointment with him because "so many people are waiting to see him." Fine. I make the appointment. A month goes by. Two weeks before the appointment I have to leave town for work. I call the office two weeks ahead of time to say that I need to cancel my appointment, and that I will reschedule once I know when I'll be back.
I am told that as a new patient you are not allowed to cancel your first appointment. If you do, then you will NEVER be allowed to make an appointment again. This is a direct policy from the doctor. I am then informed, that new patients are allowed to reschedule one time on the spot, but they are not allowed to cancel first and reschedule later. I told the receptionist that I did not know when I would be back in town, and that it would be better if I just called at a later date when I could be sure. I am then told again that a cancellation is not allowed, and that if I proceed with a cancellation I will never be able to book another appointment.
The reason I was given is because they held this spot for me and "so many people are waiting to see the doctor." This is absurd. If so many people are waiting to see the doctor then they should have no problem filling that spot immediately. Furthermore, I have never experienced this extreme of a cancellation policy with any office in my entire life. Cancellation policy is usually one, two, or three days ahead of time. I called two weeks ahead of time. That is more than plenty of time. This was not a last minute cancellation. Furthermore, how can a doctor's office expect a patient's schedule to never change? Especially when you make them book appointments six weeks out. People have lives and work.
Now, because of this, I will never be allowed to make an appointment with this doctor for the rest of my life. Even if I need medical eye care, this doctor will refuse to see me because I cancelled an appointment two weeks ahead of time once because I had to leave town for work. Consider yourself warned potential patients. This is the most ridiculous and draconian policy I have ever heard of.
I cant say enough great things about Dr. Strom and his ENTIRE office staff. I have never experienced the quality care I was given every time I was at his office or at the surgery center.
I work in healthcare in the operating room and consider myself to be so fortunate to be under the care of Dr. Strom. His reputation with all the surgeons I work with speak volumes as well. I would highly, highly recommend Dr. Strom to anyone needing to have cataract surgery.
His staff is so amazing and always greeted my by my "nickname" everytime I walked into his office. Wendy is amazing and gave me excellent care each and every visit. All of the ladies at the front desk are all so kind and friendly too!
The surgical packet I was given by Dr. Strom was awesome. He had a chart for my eyedrops and it really made things so easy. He even gives out his personal cellphone number also and that's almost unheard of anymore. If your looking for the best eye surgon search no more because he is it! He is the nicest surgeon I have ever had. My eyesight is spectacular now and I couldn't be happier.
Thank you all for helping me and making things so pleasant for me. I can't believe how well I now see and feel now. Many thanks!
Love this place. They have treated 4 generations on my family.
Dr. Storm assured me he would give me the best care and I trusted him I am blind In one eye. Came time for cataract surgery on my good eye and there it ended. Had surgery in Sept 2020 and my sight has been awful. I told him I had double vision and a blur and flicker. There was no response but the surgery was successful. He neither acknowledged or validated my concerns. 9 months later I received help from Bascom Palmer in Miami. Shame on you Dr. Strom. It has been hell.today I got my prism from Bascom Palmer and it is a miracle . There is vision in my bad eye and I am not crazy. You had no business doing surgery on me with no knowledge of what I was dealing with. Yo are a social climber in the church. Your lack of knowledge and dismissal of my complaint are tantamount to ABUS/. God help you. We are all sinners but forgiveness is availabe.
Dr. Strom examined, diagnosed and treated my daughters eye problem with such care today. We had been to a walk-in clinic earlier in the day but they were unable to provide lasting relief. Dr. Strom did provide this lasting relief and has set up a plan for further post-injury eye care. Highly recommend the Strom Eye Center
