I have been goin to this eye doctor for two years and I always purchase glasses at the office so I've never run into this issue. I referred my wife to go here and today was her first appointment. Once doctor Shotwell found out that my wife did not want to purchase glasses from the office she made some very rude comments and started talking about how she won't make money off the appointment and it's hard for private doctors to make money. And many more comment a I will no longer be coming here.

I would give 10 stars if I could. I was sent to this location through the VA's community care program and had such an amazing experience. Every single person I encountered was friendly and just made my day brighter. The process was easy and quick. I paid extra for the exam for contacts and ordered them while I was there. It's been four days and I already have the contacts delivered to my home. That tells me that they wasted no time in putting that order in. I hope the VA allows me to keep using this practice for all my eye care needs!

I have no issue with the eye exam itself, but Dr. Shotwell, in my opinion was very unprofessional in bringing up politics during the exam. We did not agree and she was very brash in her opinions. (And said she felt sorry for me!) I don't expect to encounter that when I go to see a doctor and for that reason alone I may be seeking another eye doctor. Not because she disagreed with me but because she brought up politics in the first place. Very unprofessional.

I've been going to Dr. Shotwell for a few years now. Before that, I was relatively new to the area and was only going to the Optical Center at the Sams Club nearby. I didn't know it, but that was a big mistake because the Optometrist at Sams was performing notoriously poor eye exams (only I didn't know better). Even Dr. Shotwell had heard of the clown.
Dr. Shotwell performed more thorough testing than the big box discount eye doc. My wife suggested we go here on word of mouth, and now our kids get their eyes checked here. Luckily, no glasses for them (yet).
