Since the office staff fails to inform people prior to their appt and has you sign things after being dilated with no explanation here are important things to know. ALL contact appts must pay a $100 fee for contact fitting. If you are a new patient it is $150. Glasses appts do not have to pay a fee however you do have to bring in your glasses so they can scan your prescription. From what i was told on the phone you do not need to pay anything additional however i could be wrong/ misinformed. The fees are POLICY and will not be waived. Your insurance may or may not cover this expense. From the eye exam service itself it is great and super smooth. The doctors and assistants are fantastic. I give them five stars for being kind, accommodating and efficient. Plus i had my daughter with me at my appt and one of them gave her a pop it. I appreciate the kind gesture. The reason for my 1 star review is for the lack of transparency of cost for contacts VS glasses. I told the office that i just wanted an eye exam and lacked informing me that the fee is their policy and will be charged. I advised multiple people, multiple times i did not want to pay the contact fee, i just simply wanted an eye exam which I have never had issues getting before. Rather than educating me on their process and policy they instead continued with my appt as normal and then i went to check out. By the time you check out you are dilated and cannot see any forms you will be signing. When I was dilated I thought i was signing insurance paper work, no explanation of what I was signing given I verbally stated what type of appt I wanted. For legal education - this is called lack of capacity and makes the contract you sign voidable. I did not realize what I had signed until I receive a bill in the mail. When i call the office the person who i thought would help was rude and unhelpful. She accused me of leaving without paying and the person i was checking out with did not advise me I needed to go to the front to pay. From a patient customer service perspective i just had a bad experience and i personally do not like to work with businesses that #1 are not transparent with cost #2 try to scam patients by giving them documents to sign without full transparency of what is being signed. Lastly, I have spent 2 days trying to clear the charges and I have not had anyone call me back after explaining what happened. I will be paying my $100 bill but I will not be returning to this location after this. I hope this review at least helps someone else. I also hope that they provide better clarity on their policy/ fees and do not put blame on the patient when they are misinformed by the workers there.

We were in Calhoun as tourists when my husband's glasses broke. The nice folks at this clinic helped us with the fix. It was so important as my husband is the primary driver, and we were on our way to another tourist attraction. We so appreciate the staff at Professional Eye Associates. We enjoyed our stay in Calhoun after visiting the New Echota State Museum Site and former capital for the Cherokees. We ate at Doro restaurant and did a little shopping downtown before we left town. We are telling friends and family that Calhoun is a friendly place to visit.Thank you again for your help.

Everyone very friendly, professional, courteous and prompt! Very thorough exam. OD took time to discuss and answer my questions. Very pleased with all the staff members. Was my first visit and I have already recommended PEA to family and friends. Can't wait to get my new lenses!!

Overall outstanding experience. The staff are all very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Dr McBride listened to my concerns and explained everything with patience and professionalism.

Everyone I met and worked with was friendly and helpful. My technician, Anslee, and Dr. McBride both took the time to explain everything to me and address all my questions and concerns. I am quite pleased with Professional Eye Associates.

One minor item I recommend changing: my eyes were dilated and I was told that there would be no problem driving home. That was not correct. The daylight was blinding while I was driving. I had to pull off the road for a long spell. You might consider advising patients to have a driver or sunglasses at a minimum.

I've been going here for over a decade, now I call to get my annual glasses/contact prescriptions and they want to charge an extra $150 for a "contact fitting". I'm 40, have been wearing the same contacts for 23 years and stated I didn't need a fitting, just a prescription so I can continue to order them online. I was told it was charged even if they don't do it. That sounds like predatory billing know to occur in healthcare.....I hate it but I'm going to have to find somewhere else.
