They were extremely nice and efficient. The wait time was short. I thought every one was knowledgeable and treat me and my son with respect. The business was easy to locate and everything was really clean inside the establishment. Also the front desk lady went above and beyond with assisting me with my son's new vision insurance... which turned out to be a discount plan, but Optiworld offered a bigger discount. Thank you for all your help and your professionalism. I have been a RN more than 20yrs.and firmly attest that their customer service was EXCELLENT!
I usually take the time to research a business before booking, but that wasn't the case this time. I called and scheduled a same-day appointment, and the customer service during the initial call was pleasant.
Afterward, I decided to look at some reviews and became concerned. I called back to share my concerns and confirm that everything would be fine moving forward. The representative reassured me that there was nothing to worry about.
However, less than an hour before my appointment, the same representative called me back and said, "I told the doctor about your concerns, and he won't see you." When I asked for clarification, he simply repeated the same statement without providing any explanation.
While this situation was inconvenient, I do appreciate them canceling in advance. It likely saved me from a potentially worse experience based on what others have reported.
I came to this place looking for a new pair of glasses since my last was stolen. Had my prescription, all I needed was frames and lenses. I advise anyone looking to get frames and lenses to know what your benefits and have them with you to reference. Other places I have been they staff explains it to you in layman terms. Not this place. The one doctor I sat down with explained nothing just told me $167 for frames and plain prescription lenses. $324 for progressive. How is that when my co pay is $10. My insurance pays $210 for frames and all I have to pay is $10 co pay for lenses and $10 co pay for progressives. My last pair was only $200 with lenses, progressives, and transitions. I politely declined and went to Pearle where the staff explained my benefits, even though by this time I had my insurance email them too me. Paid $115 for Ray-bans with lenses, and full view progressive with blue block. Just know your benefits before trying this place. Receptionist was helpful though.
I've been going here for well over 5 years and the optometrist here are mixed. The main one Greg, i think it is, always seems to be in a rush whenever i visit and clearly wants you gone asap. On the other hand there is a light skinned (sorry forgot the name) optometrist who is the complete opposite really professional and very helpful. He us the only reason im giving this place 2 stars. However the customer service specifically at the front desk is very unprofessional. The lady rushes you off the phone as soon as you call and does not clearly answer any questions about cost for exams with your insurance over the phone. She is just super pressed to tell me about a behind the eye scan i have to pay for that is not my contact and glasses exams. It wasn't until I finally tried a new place today that I realized i was settling for this place due to how close it was to me. I received all my cost up front for both my contacts and glasses exams over the phone. Then this they sent me an email and text with the cost and visit time with a drafted invoice. It was completely opposite of what i had been dealing with here. The lady at the front has an attitude problem here. Hopefully whatever she is going through will be resolved i think she needs a vacation or training on how to talk to customers.
My son went here for his glasses and used Medicaid but was told he had to pay for glasses even though Medicaid covers pediatric lenses and frames. That's the first issue. Then when the prescription was requested because we aren't able to pay for the glasses they refused on a false claim that they have to wait for insurance to "release" the prescription. I honestly thought this was reputable business but seeing how last time they scammed my husband out of money for frames and tries to do it again I'm realizing they play off the lack of knowledge. However, this time they have the wrong mom. According to The FTC's Eyeglass Rule requires that after a refractive eye exam (i.e. determining your prescription), the prescriber must give you a copy of your eyeglass prescription immediately, whether or not you ask for it, and before offering to sell you eyeglasses. Furthermore, The prescriber cannot charge a separate "prescription-release" fee (i.e. you can't be forced to pay extra just to get the prescription) unless there is a policy of immediate payment for all patients. Furthermore, If your child is covered under Peach State / PeachCare for Kids, and eyeglasses are a covered benefit (which they are under EPSDT/Vision for Kids), then the provider should not charge you more than what the plan allows for that benefit. Since children under 21 do not have a copay, the provider should not impose a copayment for the glasses themselves (assuming it is part of the covered benefit under Peach State) due to the rule that "Medicaid members under age 21" are exempt from copays. Lastly, Also, providers must accept Medicaid payment as full payment for covered services. They cannot balance-bill the patient for amounts beyond what Medicaid (or the managed care plan) reimburses for the covered benefit. Georgia law also has rules about balance billing and surprise billing protections. E.g., Georgia's "Surprise Billing Consumer Protection Act" prohibits certain balance billing practices. Now it's my understanding that they didnt offer any other frames, within the price range. So therefore they shouldn't even be accepting that as insurance if the option isn't there. In conclusion, I will be reporting.
Update: the response from the owner is all the evidence you need to know to stay away from this establishment.
Very friendly! I have had an amazing experience on my first initial exam, from every employee! (Which isn't too common these days) Very understanding and knowledgeable staff, I couldn't thank them enough for my swift and professional experience. Thank you, see you again soon!
Just started coming here again with my kids. Grow up coming here as a kids loved it then. Dr Yancie is a very loving and professional worker. Not only is she very informative but she helps and works with you in your times of need.
