I had an extremely disappointing experience with Clarkson Eyecare, and I would not recommend this location. When I initially called to schedule an appointment, my call was answered and then placed on hold for approximately 20 minutes before anyone assisted me. Once the appointment was scheduled, I provided all requested information, including my son's insurance details and member ID. The representative explicitly confirmed that the optometrist accepted our insurance. On the day of the appointment, locating the office was unnecessarily confusing. The signage shown online does not match the current signage at the physical location, and the office is described as a Vinings location even though it is actually in Smyrna. This lack of clarity caused delays and frustration. Fifteen minutes before the appointment, I called the office to confirm the correct address. Again, my call was answered and then placed on hold for over 30 minutes. By the time someone returned to the line, I was already past my appointment time. Given the circumstances and the continued delays, I chose not to attend, as it was no longer feasible with my schedule. I later called back to reschedule and experienced additional excessive hold times, totaling nearly an hour. I was eventually offered another appointment with the same doctor later that day. Upon arriving, I waited over an hour and was required to complete paperwork that I had already submitted previously. To make matters worse, I was then informed that my insurance might not be accepted, despite having already provided the insurance information and receiving prior confirmation that it was accepted. Overall, the lack of organization, inconsistent communication, excessive wait times, and insurance confusion reflect poor operational management. This experience was a significant waste of time, and I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution or seek care elsewhere.

The doctor (Dr. Phi) was very knowledgeable, precise, and informative. Explained EVERYTHING! A+ The office assistants were VERY friendly and amazingly helpful. But .. One thing I would say, if you have Peach State Health Plan covering a minor child... be sure to get all cost upfront (including possible testing) because there's one exam that was not covered by health insurance through Peach State plan, which was the WIDE FIELD RETINA IMAGING. I did not know that would be an extra $44 cost. And for someone out here, who may be on a STRICT budget... ESPECIALLY NOW... You DON'T need a $44 surprise at the END of your visit. And one other thing at this location I was told that they DO NOT carry the frames that are covered by GA Medicaid. So any frames plus lens costing more than the 100 allowance you will pay out of pocket. Just to inform you because I had to go to the other location in Austell, just to choose frames that will be covered... I didn't want to pay out of pocket cost on more glasses. Just stating the things I would've like to know when reviewing customer comments!

While Dr. Bang is wonderful, their billing system and office admins are a disaster. Every, single time I've gone for exam, etc, I get bills, bills, and more bills. I had a $400 credit bc my order was incorrectly placed (3 boxes for 1 eye and 6 for the other, makes NO sense). After going back and forth with the office, they finally got their billing folks squared away ~ or so I thought. Almost 4 months later, I again received some random bill. My prior encounter was a random bill I received and no one could explain what the charge was for (I paid in full at time of service). I refused to pay until they could explain, which they never could. I've heard from many other clients who express the same issues with this practice.

The optometrist/ophthalmologist Dr. Phi was great during my exam and Tabby has been friendly. However, the service following the purchase of my new glasses since July has been unacceptable. They never told me about the backorder or delay. (10 weeks!) Ive been the only one having to call to get updates on when the glasses actually arrived. I finally picked up the new glasses two weeks ago after I called to surprisingly find out they were there. After two weeks, I called the office to report that the prescription lenses were causing vision to be blurry on the peripheral. They said only the manger can rectify. But there is no manager to help and she would call back when they get a hold of a manager. Since my initial complaint on 10/16, I have called the office 5 times and left messages with staff specifically requesting a call back from a manager or supervisor to discuss a resolution. Even to escalate to the Dr. Not a single manager or supervisor has returned my calls. (Well one time when i told them I wouldn't be available to talk) I have been repeatedly given the runaround and false promises of a callback. This complete lack of responsiveness has left me with an unusable pair of expensive glasses and zero path toward a resolution. I strongly caution prospective patients about the customer service follow-up and management communication at this practice. I hope to resolve this soon and will update this review when the management finally decides to engage. (Without a templated response) I encourage you to read the one star reviews here, they are accurate to my experience.

Worst experience: - New glasses ordered in October 2025 - Glasses arrive with wrong lenses November 2025 - Nobody answers phone and the voicemail box is full. No email address for contact - Came back in to check on status in mid December since I never heard back - Come to find out my original pair was still sitting there and they never sent it in for the correct lenses - January 13 - still never received a call on order status. Turns out they had them in and were just never going to notify me... Worst customer service and no way of getting in touch with them but to just drop in. I will never be back.

Negligent Service, Gaslighting (New) Management, and Complete Disregard for Customers - at this Clarkson Eyecare Location UPDATE: 12/6/25 - The saga continues. Since my glasses were cancelled, this office still has my insurance benefit blocked (they have not released my claim so I "still" cannot use my insurance to get my much-needed glasses elsewhere. I visited a few days bk. to resolve - the manager promised to email me conf. she reached out to my ins. to reverse the claim. but of course she did not do as promised. I still can't use my ins. Clock is ticking for 2025. After 12 years of loyalty, I recently experienced treatment at this location that can only be described as negligent and unprofessional. This isn't about minor inconveniences--I spent $700 on prescription glasses I need to see and work, and for three weeks I've been dismissed, misled, and ultimately gaslit by management. Additionally, I'm a loyal customer who has patronized this eye care facility for almost 20 years (before it was Clarkson) - same eye doctor. After asking to speak with Christina (the supervisor over the office manager), I was told by Coran (the office manager) that I could not speak to Christina (her supervisor) at all. There is something very wrong with this. I want to be clear, I love Dr. Bang - my eye doctor, but this office staff and management are a danger to Bang's good name and reputation. I am seriously considering seeing another eye doctor if this office staff continues to demonstrate such negligence and unprofessionalism. The pattern of neglect: After placing my $700 order during a BOGO promotion 3 weeks ago, the staff told me they were "too busy" to process my second pair and to call back. I never received a single promised callback. Across multiple in-person visits and phone calls over three weeks, at least 4 different staff members, and the office manager (Coran - sp) couldn't tell me basic information about my order status. They wouldn't call the lab until I insisted. When I came in for an exam days ago, front desk staff assured me the lab had confirmed my lens choice and my glasses would ship overnight with a confirmation call the next day. That call never came. When I finally reached the manager again (Coran) today, she claimed the lab never intended to fulfill my order because the lens was "discontinued"--yet it's still available at 7+ other retailers. Why wasn't I contacted about this supposed issue? The insulting response: Coran (sp) admitted this was her first management position, and she, as well as her staff, lacked experience. But instead of accountability, I received excuses and gaslighting--she claimed she didn't remember seeing me in person days earlier, then suggested she was "doing me a favor by being nice to me" after her office mishandled my order. She even began talking over me and telling me I was being disrespectful to her, and when I asked how, she stated it was my tone. You mean my frustrated tone after being lied to, neglected, and brushed off (including by her) for 3 weeks after spending $700 for a pair of glasses I need, and being denied the opportunity to speak with her supervisor, Christina? I asked to speak with her supervisor, whom she keeps putting me on hold to talk to, but she states to me (after I asked to speak with Christina) that I cannot speak with her or contact her by email. Christina was right there in the office with her at that moment. This is medical equipment I need to function. I was treated with complete disregard and, in the end, gaslighted by Coran because I was understandably frustrated but never disrespectful to anyone I spoke with. Proceed with extreme caution if you value your time, money, and vision. It is with great regret that I have to warn others about doing business at this office because I love my eye doctor, but I feel I have to warn others, as I wish I had some clue as to what negative experience I was going to have before I ordered my expensive glasses from this location.

Dr. Bang is wonderful, I wish every doctor was like her. Tabby, the optician who taught me proper contact lens insertion and removal, was exceptionally wise, patient, and kind. She was nice enough to sit with me for a very long time as I struggled. I hope her comforting presence and knowledge are recognized, as they certainly deserve to be.
