Very pleased with the service and results of my visit. I was helped by Matt, who was very informative and went out of his way to make certain all of my options were covered. Even though I only went with a single pair of glasses, I'm confident that, whatever I would have needed in addition to that, he would have been knowledgeable and helpful in getting me what I needed.
Though the selection of frames could have been larger at this location (I like a really big selection to choose from) I was still easily able to find several frames that matched my preferences and budget.

The front desk staff and the doctor were very cordial and professional, which I truly appreciated. However, I did run into an issue with charges that were not clearly explained before my visit.
As I was leaving, I was informed that if you are covered by VSP insurance, the annual contact lens visit is billed as an additional charge. I was also charged for an eye "wellness" test, which was only mentioned at checkout rather than beforehand.
Overall, the experience would have been much better with clearer, upfront transparency about these extra costs. That said, I do appreciate the staff taking the time to apologize and waiving one of the charges.

We visited Big City Optical for my wife's very first contact lens purchase in the U.S. We had a 5:20 p.m. appointment, and a staff member named Matt welcomed us. Overall, the eye exam was extremely satisfying and professional. Even though we took quite a bit of time choosing and getting used to the contact lenses, Matt and the doctor were incredibly kind and patient throughout the entire process. We were so pleased that this became our first contact lens store, and if we stay in the area, we'll definitely keep coming back to Big City Optical and Matt for all our glasses or contact lens needs. They are truly trustworthy, sincere, and wonderful people, and I hope many others in Evanston or nearby will visit and have just as great an experience.

Like others that have been here recently, my information was given out to other eye specialists who now call and text me to offer me services. I told them that they are not covered by my insurance and still they send these texts trying to get a referral.
Not to mention my eye exam was awful. As soon as they realized I was there for health and not a new designer pair of glasses, the attitude switched immediately. I told them I haven't taken an exam in a long time. I was given no instruction while taking the initial exam. The doctor asked me if I blinked during a test because they read high pressure in my eyes, but no one told me not to blink? Now I'm seeing a specialist because they got bad results and my only insurance covered eye exam has been used. But if you want overpriced glasses and your information handed out, this is the place.
EDIT: the specialist said 1. My pressure was fine. 2. Don't get glasses. He said if he had my prescription, he would never wear them.
