I took my daughter to dr Mack on the recommendation of my doctor... she dosent do cornea problems so she said he's one of the best.... Since I really like my doctor I took her advice... boy am I glad I did... went to dr Mack with alot of concern about my daughter and left with such relief and genuine admiration for just about everything he did and said!!!!!! Thank you just dosent cover it, dr mack!!!

I absolutely recommend Dr Mack! I am extremely grateful for his incredible expertise and treatment of my condition, which likely prevented a future eye crisis. Dr Mack is professional, patient & caring while explaining everything in detail, which gave me confidence in proceeding. He's very busy, yet I was never rushed. All the staff and technicians have been friendly and helpful too. 5 stars all the way!

Dr. Mack has been my doctor for over 25 years. He has always been caring, kind and thorough. He is innovative in his treatments which I believe has kept my vision at a high level. He has done cataract and lasik surgery for me. I would recommend Dr. Mack to anyone needing an eye surgeon.

This was a great experience. I went in very scared because I had a complication from my cataract surgery done by my ophthalmologist. At a return visit, he sent me to Dr Mack. My cornea was inflamed and my glaucoma numbers were elevated. With the proper medicine things are under control. I was so afraid I was going to need surgery. Not a fan of Dr. Mack. He suggests the same things each time I visit. He never remembers that I own the glasses, I own the contacts and I've had the tear drain surgery. He doesn't recall the treatments we are using or have tried. Every visit I answer the same 20 minutes of questions from the techs, but I have no idea why-- Dr Mack certainly never looks at my chart. He's not personable, and he's comes off as uncaring and arrogant. Some treatments helped, for sure, but mostly I feel like each follow-up visit is groundhogs day & a huge waste of my time. It always takes 2 hours. They move you from room to room to waiting area until it's finally your turn. Dr K is awesome, as is Rachelle.

Dr.Mack is a phenomenal doctor and surgeon. He is incredibly thorough and caring. He spends as much time with you as you need. Dr. Mack answers all your questions without trying to make a fast exit. His entire staff is exceptional as well. So grateful we were referred to him.

I am a patient of Dr. Mack's for some 7 years or so. Dr. Mack is an outstanding and brilliant eye doctor. He is frank and concise in his remarks. He is respectful and probing in his obtaining of history. He is diligent and comprehensive in his workup and care of eye problems. His talents are normally seen at high end academic centers, but I am happy he he practices locally. He had diagnosed me with elevated eye pressures and performed a laser iridotomy which relieved constant frontal headaches I had for more than two decades. I read some of these reviews and I understand they are likely former employees or disgruntled persons who are asked to pay the due balances for their care. I am a doctor myself and understand where these negative reviews come from and they are usually never from patients. That being said, anyone can have a difficult day and be less than perfect in their approach to a difficult patient. I never hesitate to send patients to Dr. Mack because as a patient myself in his practice I know firsthand how good the care is that he delivers. Dr. Mack is one of the good guys.

I took my Mother to Dr. Robert Mack in Hoffman Estates, IL to discuss her increasing difficulty with double vision. Dr. Mack said he does not specialize in double vision, but could refer us to a doctor. During Dr. Mack's exam he indicated a lens from a past cataract procedure was needing a maintenance type procedure. Dr. Mack said the lens can move and cause great discomfort. At that time my Mother had no discomfort. He indicated the laser procedure would take only few minutes. There was no dialog about alternative methods or risk to the eye. The follow up appointment, after the laser procedure, resulted in blurry vision to the eye. Dr. Mack suggested glasses before even looking at the eye to see if there was a problem. Prior to the procedure my Mother could see clearly, even with the double vision, but the procedure resulted in blurry vision in that eye. I was surprised and concerned. I asked Dr. Mack how this happened and why this risk was not discussed prior to the procedure. Dr. Mack responded in an agitated manner as if his work is being questioned. He treated us as if we were ungrateful and talked to us as if needing glasses was the problem. He literally said "I am ready to open Champaign and celebrate because I saved your mom from blindness." When I said, "I didn't expect blurry vision", he replied with "Neither did I" and walked out of the room leaving us confused. Dr. Mack never mentioned possible blindness in the previous visits. We felt Dr. Mack should have been more detailed about the laser procedure and covered possible risks. This experience was so unnerving that we will no longer see Dr. Mack and seek another ophthalmologist. The majority of Dr. Mack's procedures are probably successful and end with satisfied patients, but if you are not satisfied there is no reassurance or discussion.
