Seeing is believing!
I tried another optical company for a year and regretted every minute!! I came back and apologized to Lorena and her staff and are now back on track. Headed into Prism eye care, got a new Rx and found a few new fun frames and am feeling a sense of relief that my vision is back on target. Thanks team!! You're the best in the biz!
Laura, at the Costco vision center in Niles, IL, helped me in selecting lenses and frames. She is very pleasant and engaging and couldn't have been any more helpful or informative than she was. She was very knowledgeable about the features of the frames and lenses, and she also informed me of an upcoming sunglasses sale which I was not even aware of but will definitely be taking advantage of!
If you plan on purchasing your eyewear needs at the Costco in Niles, IL, I would definitely look for Laura to help you out, she's the best!
Staff is great, but the office is small and busy so many patients coming in and out. The appointment with Dr. Marmur felt rushed and I wasn't able to adequately talk about concerns before moving on to the eye tests.
She was extremely condescending as I tried to discuss my concerns with possible hereditary eye disease I may have inherited from a parent. Not all of us have great relationships with our parents for various reasons and I didn't need to be shamed for not knowing their full medical history or for not taking them to their appointments. Dr. Marmur should have taken some sensitivity training. I was upset as I left and my day was pretty much ruined after the appointment.
Great experience! I would usually go to one of those stores in the mall but since my insurance was accepted at Costco, I thought I would give them a try. The doctor was great, super friendly and informative. Showed me the images of my eyes and explained everything in detail. When I went to pick out my frames, Joy assisted me, she was very helpful and even helped me pick out a frame. She picked out several and I went with the one she suggested. She also let me know I could get a second pair for 40% off. I was really pleased with the experience and the final cost. I saved over $150.00 as compared to the mall store. I will definitely go back again.
Firstly, I assumed that the cost for an exam would be less expensive than going to a brand name vision store. I mean, that's kinda the Costco thing. Right?... Wrong. I paid $100. Most brand name vision stores are $69... I know this because I had to call around to have my eyes re-examined after going to Costco because...
Secondly, my eye exam script was not correct.
Thirdly, because Costco doesn't offer Progressive Lenses with a wider view (such as Varilux), I couldn't order my glasses through them. I ordered glasses online and thought that they somehow messed it up because I had problems seeing with them. I ended up going back to wearing my old pair. Months later, I ended up at Pearl Vision. He measured my old pair to the glasses I purchased online (made from the Costco script) and after my exam told me that my actual script is between the old pair and what the exam that Costco had written up.
This was a very expensive lesson learned... money lost for an exam that was done incorrectly and money lost for glasses that I cannot wear because of that incorrect exam.
Usually, my family and I have a pleasant experience at Costco Vision Center. This time, not so much. When I picked up my glasses, a very rude employee (named Joy) was helping me. Before our visit, we were promised a case of the brand of the glasses we bought. I went to go pick up my glasses and they were in a Costco case. I asked why I did not receive a Valentino case since I purchased Valentino glasses. Joy explained that "We don't always get the case with the glasses." I understood this well, but she rudely explained it. She even said, "Did you pay for the glasses or the case?" I was appalled by the comment. She thought that could slip right by my ears. Joy also said, "I will call the lab and see if I can get the case." Later that day, we did NOT receive a call. She said she would call us back even if they did not have the case. Please look into this as I do not want this attitude put on to other customers. If this behavior continues, it will ruin the customers experince which could overall hurt the company's image.
I am a working mom of 2 babies and I made the mistake of not realizing I was out of contact lenses. I went in tonight to see if I could purchase contacts to hold me over to my scheduled appointment that is in two weeks from now. The optometrist refused to accommodate me in any way. As a customer of contacts from Costco for 10+ years I am obviously extremely disappointed. I will not purchase contacts from here again and have canceled my appointment.
A big shout out to manager and staff at Costco Optical in Niles. I'm on my 4th pair of glasses and have always had a great experience. Friendly, knowledgeable and excellent customer service.
