I have been going to American Vision Eye World for many years and the staff and doctors are amazing! They carry all of the most current eye care products and are super professional. I have never had any problems, ever!
Dr. Atkenson is my doctor and is super up to date in all of the newest of vision care! I send my family and friends to American Vision and they are all super happy! Love American Vision Eye World :)
Everyone was very nice and helpful and Geron was also very helpful and very nice guy! Highly recommend this place.
I had a 9:15 appointment, I was the second patient in the building, the doctors were running late getting there. They took 5 patients ahead of me before I asked if they lost my chart. It was a terrible experience to say the least.
I seriously love this place. My family and I drive all the way from Elk Grove Village IL to come to this specific location. The doctors are all knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Dr Atkenson actually takes the time to answer questions and make sure you understand what is going on with your vision and prescription. The store staff are all fantastic. Lisa the store manager always make sure that we walk out of the building with the best fitting, cleanest glasses she can possible give us. I would recommend this place to anyone, and have. I think the drive is worth the customer service and care you get from everyone that works at this store.
This is the worst service experience I have ever had.
First, I called and asked for an appointment to check my eyes in order to get a new prescription. They were courteous and made the appointment, and told me that it would be $59. I went in to the store, and they asked me my name and why I was there, and then said wait for the doctor. I waited, had my appointment, the doctor was good, but I didn't like the fact that he was constantly telling me to buy one particular type of contact.
Anyways, I go to the front, and they are all nice to me, and I'm getting ready to pay, and the lady tells me that it will be $99. I asked her why, because the front told me it would be $59, and she said, "Well, they were wrong, it's $99", and that was that.
Obviously, I was upset. But it got worse - I asked them for my prescription (because they have ridiculously overpriced products), and they told me that I had to come in for a "follow-up" visit after one month, and then they would give me the prescription. I was very upset, but had to do it.
So, I went after a month, and the doctor was nice again, but still - trying to sell me one particular type of lens. I said NO and that was that....until I tried to order contacts from Walgreens and they told me that my order was canceled because American Vision center never approved it.
I called them after this and asked them what was going on, and they said, "You tried to buy a different lens then the doctor said you should (meaning, the one that the doctor kept trying to SELL me, not that it FIT me any better)".
So basically, I spent $99 to get a prescription to only one particular type of contact lens (the one that they most likely have some commission deal with), and I can't use it to buy any contacts.
It is not that this place is incompetent - it is that they are systematically trying to screw over each and every one of their customers. And then they get upset and mad at you when you try to tell them that it is ridiculous what they are doing.
Please...please, save yourself from getting ripped off by these crooks.
Unfortually I can't remember two of the women names, but I'm still bothered by the lack of knowledge the staff has.
On March 22nd, I approach the counter and let the woman know that I was there for my appointment to get an eye exam. She pulls my file and tells me that I couldn't get an eye exam until the next year because I just had one recently. I told her that I didn't have an exam . She gave me the date of this supposed eye exam. I told her that that was the date that I called to make the appointment. I asked to speak to someon else. She walks to the back and comes back and tells me that I was right and the person I made the appointment with already pulled my insurance which made it look like I had already been seen.
I purchased some contacts lenses that totalled $108. I had a balance of $12 left which I said to the Brenda "I can apply that to my next supply of contacts." Her response was, that I couldn't use the balance of my allowance to purchase future contact lenses. I asked her why and she said that it doesn't work that way. My response to her was that my contacts were only $108 and that I had $12 to use toward my next purchase.
That didn't sit well with me, so I called a day or so later nd spoke to another person on the phone about this and her response was the same. I had my insurance company contact them to explain how the allowance works . I had to have my insurance comapny call them and explain how the allowance work.
A big selection of glasses to choose from. The tech that helped with contacts did not know how to help a new contact lens user. It took more than one visit. Doctors knowledgeable. I learned more than I ever had about my own eyes.
My husband spent almost $600 on glasses and an exam. His vision was still blurred so he returned and they adjusted the glasses....still no improvement. I made him go to another optometrist who immediately told him he had cataracts that were apparent with the naked eye. Glasses would be useless and he needed surgery. Were they incompetent or intentionally dishonest? Who knows?
