Dupage Eye Surgery Center LLC

One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had, especially for a medical facility. I called this eye surgery center expecting basic professionalism and instead was met with outright hostility from an employee named Melina. She was shockingly rude, condescending, and clearly irritated that she had to do her job at all. Before I could even finish speaking, she hung up on me. Not disconnected. Not a bad signal. She hung up--intentionally. I immediately called back and spoke with another employee who was kind, patient, and professional, which makes Melina's behavior even more inexcusable. This proves the problem isn't the company as a whole--it's one employee who should not be interacting with patients under any circumstances. Someone like Melina is a liability to a healthcare business. Patients call with concerns, questions, and anxiety--what they should not get is attitude, disrespect, and a slammed phone call. Management needs to seriously ask themselves why someone this unprofessional is allowed to represent their practice. Melina should be reprimanded or removed, plain and simple. If management tolerates this behavior, then they are just as much part of the problem. I would strongly caution anyone considering this center: if you value respect and basic human decency, be prepared--or go elsewhere.

Worst front desk/scheduling/triage experience ever! Drove over an hour to the scheduled appointment, just to find out there is no appointment scheduled! They can't even dial the correct number on file! Incompetent staff! Triage tried telling me there is no records of me scheduling the appointment where in fact the receptionist provided me with the real reason why my appointment was canceled - whoever tried calling me dialed the wrong number. Triage wanted to cover up their mistake and blame it on me! Very unprofessional! If I could give ZERO stars, I would!

Agree with one of the review's It seemed they were no rush to get you in, but definitely in a hurry to get you out. They rushed through the instructions didn't want to answer any questions. Stated that it's all on your discharge papers. Okay but just had eye surgery. Can't read that paper. As stated in there website.-Wheaton Eye Clinic opened its $4.2 million DuPage Eye Surgery Center in April, 2007-- seems like they could have more staffing, spend more time with the patient and at least have a working coffee maker in the waiting lounge!! Here's your juice and cookie! BYE!!

I'm very pleased with the quality and professional work that I received here for my 2 cataract surgeries in the past 2 weeks. Dr. Kang is an amazing Doctor. He has been an important person that has helped me to improve my vision in both of my eyes. I'm very grateful for him and his skills that he has to improve someone's vision. My doctor is great, but the staff is absolutely the worst bunch of people to deal with. I get a call 3 days before my appointment from a woman stating that my procedure has been approved by my insurance, but I will need to pay over $1300 at my time of arrival. I asked why is that, and she stated because I have not yet met my yearly deductible. I said that I understood that, but the amount she was asking for would be more than what my deductible is yearly. I asked for an explanation and all she kept saying was that is "Our" policy at the surgical center. They tried to do this to me the last time I had to go in to this center, and when I questioned this, I was told the woman was incorrect and I only had to pay $650. This time, no one I spoke to seemed to want to listen to any reasoning I had to provide, and kept on saying that this was "Our" policy. I called my insurance company and they didn't even understand why they were trying to charge so much. So billing department is very inadequate when it comes to insurance billing and providing accurate information. Very rude, very informative and very frustrating. Then comes the scheduling department. I got a letter in the mail with forms to fill out, and it clearly said that I would be provided with my surgery time 1 to 5 days before my appointment. Never have they called me 5 days before. I get a call the day before my surgery stating that my time was going to be at 10:00 AM. I told her that would not work for me. Since day one as a patient, I have asked numerous times to make note on my file that I required an early morning appointment and I needed notifications of appointment times at least 2 days prior to my date. My travel schedule for work requires that I have to have early morning appointments. When I said that time wouldn't work, the woman said, ok call the clinic and reschedule the appointment and then she hung up on me. Didn't ask if there was a better time, just said ok and hung up. Their staff is rude, their billing practices are sketchy at best, and their bedside manner is despicable. If they cannot have a helpful staff because they process too many patients in a day, then maybe they should either replace them with people who can deal with that pressure, or stop taking on so many patients in a single day. I am on the verge of seeking a new provider.

I had a great experience at this facility. The person who checked me in was so nice and explained the forms I was signing. The nurses, anesthesiologist and Doctor Sacher were great! They were so kind and caring! The communication between staff and patient was terrific. Thank you everyone for making this a positive experience!

The nurses and physicians are informative, effective and over all terrific. I'm giving four stars because I got charged copay after arguing with a receptionist that I wasn't supposed to get charged copay for a follow-up after eye surgery. She charged me anyway. Low and behold, a couple of months later I got a refund for that charge. Kind of frustrating considering my specialist copays are not cheap. Also, during appointment reminder calls, Patients should also be notified if they will have their eyes dilated. So that the patient can make appropriate travel arrangements I.e. someone to drive them to the appointment. There was a time I went in for my first retinopathy, but wasn't informed that my eyes would get dilated and would need someone to drive me after the appointment.

I love my doctor, but the surgical center is like an overpacked assembly line. When I walked into the room where they get you ready, it looked like a morgue, must have been about 15 beds with people laying in them, all lined up pretty close together. It's enough to make you want to walk out, not a soothing way to start. I would not ever recommend anybody to use this clinic as it is for their surgery - it's cramped, and it's overbooked, they need to make it much larger if they are continuing to schedule so many clients. Plus, I had to wait an hour and a half to get into that room too, with high anxiety. Too bad I am having my second eye done, I'm even more nervous for this one.
