America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

Great people there, excellent customer service, but way too expensive. The name should have warned me... America's Best. I got two pair of glasses (the second were perscription lenses for my sun glasses), I used my insurance, and it still cost me well over $600.00... and I even used my old frames for the sun glasses. Maybe lasik eye surgery next time?

I came in for a very specific reason, a simple vision screening required for a BMV out-of-state license renewal packet. Before booking, I explained that Stanton Optical had just turned me away because they didn't have the right equipment. I showed my BMV form at the front desk and explicitly asked if America's Best could complete it (and if they can ask the optometrist). The receptionist checked with the technician and a manager, and all of them reviewed the form and confidently told me they could do it. I was scheduled for later that day, so I went home and came back. I gave them the form again at the start of the appointment, went through intake and pre-testing, and spent a couple hours there. Only once I finally got in with the optometrist was I told they actually could not perform the required screening. I appreciate that I was not charged, and the technician & optometrist during intake were professional. However, the overall experience felt disorganized and wasted a big chunk of my day after I did everything I could to confirm they could complete the form. On top of that, there was repeated confusion about my appointment time and whether I was using vision insurance (I said no multiple times in person and again on the phone). When I politely let the manager know on my way out that this form cannot be done there, the response was dismissive. Blank stares instead of maybe a genuine "thanks for letting me know" or "sorry I told you the wrong thing." I didn't need much, but the lack of sympathy was a little questionable. If you need specific vision screening, I would strongly recommend going somewhere else, as it seems only the optometrist knew what could/couldn't be done.

I started my afternoon at another eyeglass provider. I had set an appointment online for 2pm, I arrived 5 minutes early, and at 2:30 had not been helped yet so I left. I found America's Best less than a mile away and figured I'd give it a shot. Immediately upon walking in I was greeted by Terrean and everything went smoothly from there. I was given my eye exam and returned to Terrean for frame choice, sizing, lens options, etc..... She explained everything to me (with the help of Demi) and put a package together that I'm excited to wear. Perfect experience in an imperfect world. Thank you

Stephanie was greatttt. She did an awesome job explaining how everything worked and made our whole experience seamless. And Michelle gave us a very warm welcome. They worked well with our insurance and have great prices and options. I definitely recommend making a stop here if you're shopping for some new glasses.

Overall the experience was ok until it's time to check out. The girl that checked me in and did my pretest was great. The Dr was nice! But then.. there's Stephanie at the end. She isn't very pleasant to work with when you're about to drop a couple hundred dollars. She's almost rude. I probably would have gotten another pair of glasses if she wasn't so rushing and unpleasant. I hope I don't have to deal with her when I pick my glasses up. I'll choose somewhere else next time.

Today October 29th my wife and I went to America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses ( 115 E University Dr, Granger, IN 46530 ) to set up an eye exam appointment for her. We both have service dogs and we were asked to leave and take our business elsewhere because of the service dogs. When we said that breaks ADA federal law she replied with the doctor is allergic and we informed her that the bernedoodle we have is hypoallergenic and she replied they don't care and to leave. We called their customer support and they tried to call the store to which the store said they still wouldn't see us. After customer service grilled them for a few minutes the store finally said ok we will see her but she can't bring her service dog. I'm sorry but who wants to get an exam after being treated that way and feel like you won't get a good service.

Update: Now, the lens is started to split and crack. Paid for the upgrade and they are awful. Had to go back to my old pair of glasses due to the fragmentation on the lens. Skip this place at all costs! You will be disappointed with the whole experience if you go here. Went into check on why my prescription was so radically different from just short of two years prior. Receptionist seemed to think she knew all the answers, but in reality gave me absolutely no explanation or help or explanation. She told me there's nothing they could do. My glasses have fallen apart with nose pieces, falling off and now the lens is actually splitting at the frame. Had them for eight months. Don't go there you can't get in touch with a doctor to talk about your prescription or with a person who is educated on prescriptions. The script had changed from +2.00 to -1.75 and the receptionist said it's not a big deal. The doctor said my eyes had barely changed. Something was not right! So can't order replacement glasses online because the provided script was off and the receptionist was NO HELP and wouldn't have me talk to anyone knowledgeable. Avoid at all costs.

Made an appointment for 1040AM. At 11AM I inquired about my wait and was told I was "next in line" but they couldn't give me a time frame. What is the point of making an appointment if the staff is over booked? My time is just as valuable and appointment times should be honored, especially on Saturdays. Delays should be communicated upon arrival so the customer can choose whether to reschedule or not. Mutual respect shouldn't have to be this hard to come by.
