The doctor was awesome, she was super friendly and gave me the impression she cared about helping me! And even the front desk staff and techs were great! Helped me with a good selection of glass to get me fitted for and just am really grateful for this group of good people! I definitely recommend
I've been going to mission eyecare of Lawrence for 2 years. All doctors I have encountered have been extremely proficient and so is the staff. I will continue using them as long as I live in the area. They have a great selection and cost is reasonable. Thank you everyone for your professionalism!
What started as a locational convenience thing became an ongoing "loyalty" of sorts. Mission Eyecare was the first opthomologist that I went to in town about 6 years ago. It was walking distance from my place and that was all. But due to thier friendly and knowledgeable eye doctors and staff, as well as a comfortable but unfussy office and exam routine, transparent pricing and overall experience, I havent bothered with another, despite living significantly farther away nowadays.
The medical care is great. The office and payments side is abysmal. Last week I received am invoice with another patient's name. I've called 15 times (twice a day every day) since then and have talked to no one. They have no way to contact them electronically or pay electronically either.
Wow went there today with my wife
We both have united health care insurance
We are covered up to $300 for frames and lenses. Would be more than enough for most companies
Somehow the non helpful, lazy receptionist built the price for simple progressive lenses to$808
2 of the mandated requirements ( their requirements)both had UV protection, but these were glasses for indoor reading No need for any UV protection SO WHAT A SCAM. Obviously we did not buy them.
Reporting them to the BBB
And United healthcare
Hope they remove them from their
In network providers
Would love to discuss with the owner
Decided to give the place a try everything went well until I seen the invoice they weren't clear on the charges. The front desk girl couldn't answer the question I had, It seem like she doesn't know what she doing every time I asked her a question she just stutter and looked at the other girl for help, they double charge me when I told her I wanted one boxes of contacts lenses, instead she ordered me 2 boxes that cost about $89 each and when I went in to ask her about it she acted like she didn't know what was going on, they had some opposing opinions but could not wait for us to even walk out the door before discussing it and laughing behind our back so unprofessional. All the years I been going to eyes exam I never had to pay out of pocket beside my $10 co pay I wouldn't recommend going here ever again unless you wanna spend money.Btw they will
Also charge you $85 just to try the contacts on for a fit supposedly that's what they claimed its ridiculous other places would just give you a sample asked you to leave them on for a few days if you like it then go with those brand and just called a day..
I was with my former eye doctor since I was in 8th grade, and when he retired I had lots of hesitancy with finding a new eye doctor due to the respect I had for my former. Scheduling my appointment, checking in, and the staff all together being super kind helped my nerves immensely! Dr. Pinger was great and explained everything to me if I asked questions making me super comfortable with him and the staff. The only thing I wish was different was some lower price points for frames, but obviously being in a smaller space it's understandable why they don't have a large selection. When selecting my frames and what lens coatings I wanted the young woman who helped me was phenomenal and helped me look when I was hesitant and didn't know what I wanted. I'm super glad I chose Mission EyeCare, and can't wait to get my glasses!
Nutshell: Billing practice changed and it seems they're retroactively charging people for appointments dating back years.
Back in 2021 I had several appointments at Mission. At the time they had a Paid In Full At Time Of Service set up, just as it was when still Crandon and Crandon. From my understanding any insurance kickback was zeroed out, since the patient had already paid, you know, in full. I was never charged extra after paying in the past, at least.
So imagine my surprise when now, in 2024, almost three years later, I receive a bill for almost $400 for those paid in full appointments. I call in, and I'm told they're doing an Audit and they don't know why I wasn't charged back in 2021. (Maybe because I already paid in full based on the business practice at the time? Just a guess.)
So I go in to pay, and I now owe a different amount! One of the appointments had the bill zeroed out as a courtesy for the transition period from Crandon and Crandon days. (Oddly enough it's the September appointment they zeroed out, not one of the August ones. Figure that one out.)
I will say the receptionists I spoke with were very polite when helping me, and I was able to get receipts.
