Goldthwait Vision Care

Its unfortunate to have to write this review, because I actually really like Dr. Goldthwait, but the stunt the office pulled is unacceptable. My daughter had an appointment set up for an exam, and a week before the appointment they called to confirm it. They then notified me in that phone call that they no longer take my insurance. A week before the appointment is when they chose to tell me??! I said exactly that the the woman on the phone, and she proceeded to tell me they "had only about a weeks notice" that they wont take Eyemed anymore. I then was transferred to billing, who then said theyve known since December 8th that they were not accepting Eyemed! I do NOT appreciate being lied to, and shame on them for not sending out a notification to their patients. The girl from billing simply said,"well, we are doing the best we can" with absolutely NO apology. Its frustrating on every level. I would not recommend this office despite liking the doctor based on this awful experience. They even tried to say "I can offer you a self pay rate of $250"! Ha! Yeah, no, I am not going to pay full price when I am insured! Especially to an office that lies to a patient! UNREAL!!!! Also, on a side note--clear a couple of hours for an appointment, it takes FOREVER. I have been in there and waited upwards of 45mins to an HOUR just to be seen!!

I had an excellent experience at this eye doctor's office. Dr. Goldthwait truly took his time with me and made sure every single question I had was answered clearly and patiently--I never felt rushed at all. The entire staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional, which made the visit even better. They were also very upfront and helpful about pricing, explaining everything clearly and making sure there were no surprises. It's rare to find a place that combines great care, genuine kindness, and transparency like this. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for top-notch eye care!

If you are a young woman or have daughters that go here, please go with them or have a friend go in the exam room with them. My daughter and husband went in for their appointments yesterday (12:30 and 12:45), and while my husband said his appointment went fine, my daughter was left very uncomfortable and creeped out by the experience. The doctor kept calling her a "good girl" (she's 26, and no adult customer wants to be called a good girl or boy) and asked for the address of where my daughter worked so he could "come and visit sometime" which is totally inappropriate and feels very creepy. Also on a much smaller note than the more concerning above, the appointments took pretty much all day; easily 4-5 hours, so if you work, take the day off.

Dr. Goldthwait has been my optometrist for years! Always excellent care! Wonderful personality. The staff are also excellent. Highly recommend.

I had an appointment back in January. Dr. Goldthwait was great and the staff was as well. I had called the office today to ask about ordering contacts and spoke with Caleb. He helped me order them, charged me and then I asked him about possibly getting a trial to get me by until mine come in. Super nice guy! I got transferred to a woman staff member and I had asked her the same thing. She VERY rudely answered with "We don't just give out trials." Zero patience with me. Zero manners. That was the response I received. All set. I'll take my money some where else.

Had appointment and staff were friendly, but no one told me I was going to need to clear an entire morning for a simple eye exam. Waited for almost an hour in exam room and still no physician. Had to leave for another appointment. Will not return

They got me in very quickly (basically nowhere else in the Bangor area is even accepting new patients), they take my vision insurance, and I really liked Dr. Goldthwait! He was efficient but also very personable and knows what he's doing, I didn't feel like just another number like can be common in health care nowadays.

Swapped to Dr. Goldthwait due to timeframe to get in. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Ordered contacts from the office and then needed to change the lens in frames. Staff next door were also fantastic. Would recommend!
