Costco Optical Department

I've been there many a time, had my eyes exammed and bought many pairs of glasses. I find the value very good and have always had the most excellent service. I highly recommend this location.

I am very disappointed with the customer service I received from the frames department. I was never contacted when my frames were ready for pickup. I called the department over the course of three different days--morning, afternoon, and evening--and each time the phone rang continuously until the line went dead. No one ever answered or returned my calls. When I came in to pick up my glasses, I stood waiting for over 10 minutes without any acknowledgment. When I finally asked for assistance, I was told they were waiting on another customer--who was not even at the desk at the time. I was only there for a quick pickup, yet no effort was made to assist me or even communicate clearly. This level of service is not aligned with the standards Costco has consistently demonstrated in the past. I'm not sure where the training broke down, but this experience was frustrating and disappointing, especially from a department that typically represents a brand known for strong customer service.

Be aware, they will nickel and dime you and if you ask for a breakdown, they will get defensive, rude and unprofessional. The provider thinks he has a God-given right to overcharge as he sees necessary. If you tell him that the issue will be reported to the Costco store manager, he will call the manager himself and make up a story. This place is not recommended, unless you want to be laundered for a few hundred bucks. The provider is shameless about his actions and does not budge when he is confronted about frivolous charges that are added to the bill. Costco leadership turns a blind eye and the only way to fix is to avoid the place.

The lady who helped my son (5-year-old first time getting glasses) was very loud and unprofessional. When I asked if they take measurements to ensure the glasses would fit him correctly, she responded very loudly, saying, "We don't do that here. I don't know where they do that, we don't do that!" And proceed to be short and dismissive. I wasn't sure if that was just her personality, so I decided to let it go. However, the next day my 5-year-old said to me, "That lady who helped us with the glasses was really rude." He brought it up completely on his own -- and I've never had my child tell me someone was rude before. That really confirmed how uncomfortable the interaction felt.

I've worn glasses and contacts nearly my entire life. Every time I got a prescription done I thought "okay, I can see" but after seeing Doctor Jan at this Costco Optical, I walked out the day of picking up my glasses saying "I've never seen like this before!" I'm not sure what he did differently than other optometrists in the past, but he nailed it. Truly life changing prescription that I haven't had in years. Thank you and the optical department for the excellent service and the perfect prescription. Thank you.

I called to order contacts and was informed that they are no longer ordering contacts on the phone-- which is what I have been doing for years. When I asked about other options the representative was rude and unhelpful.

Very poor customer service. I was laughed at and told I was "cheap" when I asked about rebates for contact lenses come out. (I don't know if they still do rebates -- they used to -- because I was never given an answer.) I asked to speak to a manager and the woman told me she wouldn't call one. She then literally turned her back to me and refused to answer or acknowledge me after that.

I have been trying to get a hold of someone in the optical department via phone for 3 weeks now. Try at different times of the day, no one answers. I called the main Costco line and that person said that they never have luck getting a hold of anyone either. Ridiculous.
