My online profile is my maiden name, so it won't be in their system, but I am definitely a patient. Dr. Huzella is excellent. Staff friendly. Billing office was a pleasure, until a recent $20 co-pay. I received a mailed statement dated 2/12/26. My history reflects promptly paid bills-and most well over $20! I paid online through my bank on 2/18, they mailed ck to arrive by 2/24. A week later I received a text reminder of a balance due. On 2/26-two weeks from the date of invoice I received a call! When I returned the call and asked the virtual assistant for a representative, it disconnected me. I stopped the check and called again to pay over the phone. I've never been pursued this aggressively for any payment and week or two out from invoicing is obnoxious!
I am exceedingly frustrated and unhappy with this practice, and furthermore I'm disgusted with your entire way of doing business. My husband saw Dr. Holland a month ago after we waited for an hour and a half in Hagerstown to see Dr. R, but left due to the office being "short staffed" and no one let us know about the excessive wait so we left and subsequently rescheduled for Frederick. We went to the appointment together since he would be dilated and he discussed some issues he was having with his contacts and Dr. Holland was great at listening and making appropriate recommendations, and after that is where it went downhill. We reached out 6 times in the month to inquire about these trial contacts that were not available during the appointment. We never received a callback, nor a call that they were in, or any acknowledgment that they received a voicemail- which they did receive because they logged it in the system. Then today we just got tired and finally after multiple tries we reached the office manager who gave us plenty of excuses about their faulty phone system and reasons why they didn't have the contacts after over a month of waiting. Then magically they did have the contacts after all!
I went and picked them up and brought them home to realize that the prescriptions were all wrong, between his prescription and EVERY. SINGLE. TRIAL. PAIR. None of the trials pairs were the same prescription. So, different prescriptions for the right eyes and the left eyes on each pair, like 2 packs of precision 1's- but each right eye had a completely different prescription, and the two left eyes had a completely different prescription, and the Precision 1's were completely different prescriptions from the Cooper Visions which was NOT what Dr. Holland recommended. What's worse- they gave us the exact same contacts that caused dry eye for my husband- which he specifically requested not be ordered again! This is completely unacceptable and inappropriate. You may have great doctors, but your staff is absurd and unprofessional. You aren't the only place in town and we will not be returning!
This place has the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. I have been trying to get a prescription refilled for 6 weeks. I have left NUMEROUS messages and cannot even receive a phone call back. My pharmacist has reached out many times as well. This is also not the first time I have had issues getting my prescription refilled. However, the time beore this I was actually able to get a refill in 3 weeks compared to 6.
To be a good practice, there needs to be care, communication and empathy with patients. This office lacks all of this.
I have chosen to go with a new practice as I have given this practice more than one chance. I would and will never recommend this practice to anyone.
Also, for anyone that tries to get in with this practice, schedule at least an additional hour as you will sit in the waiting area for at least that.
It was great!!! Last few times I've been in, my appointments lasted 2+ hours. I would sit in the room for more than 45 minutes waiting on the doctor. Slow workers.
But this last appointment, WOW! Totally impressed. Was done with everything 10 minutes after my appointment started, only a 15 minute wait for the dr, and out before an hour. Very nice. I have major anxiety with going to the eye dr, so it was really great to have the appointment go smoothly and fast. Thank you.
The entire staff is great! The eye tech who does the testing was so nice, professional and caring. Dr Holland really takes an interest in his patients from my experience. I felt his genuine concern, and care. I Felt very comfortable with this group.
I had Dr. Holland this time for my exam and I thought he was a big improvement over past doctors I had at this practice. He was upbeat, present and answered questions. He didn't make me feel like I was taking up his time. The techs are always very good in this office.
Despite receiving knowledgeable care from Dr. Huzella over the course of several years as her patient, I can't recommend this office. There have been times I've waited to be seen for 2 hours in an exam room. I've been given numbing and dilation drops only for them to wear off before someone comes to do my exam.
Unfortunately, there was no follow up scheduled during my last appointment. When I tried to get an appointment I was scheduled with an optometrist instead. I explained I needed to see an opthalmologist and I'm already her patient. The person on the phone argued with me about having a legitimate reason to see her, but I usually see her annually and have a genetic disorder effecting my eyes, am at risk for glaucoma and retina detachment, as well as punctal plugs she placed and need to be replaced. Eventually she agreed to make an appointment for me, but told me Dr. Huzella is fully booked for the next year and a half... I don't understand why someone would have such a large case load that they can't see their patients when they're having urgent issues and for their annual visits.
I can't help but feel it's unethical to render your practice unable to provide adequate care in a timely manner. The scheduler is completely unprofessional.
Dr Hussain made me feel comfortable and relaxed, I had a bad experience with my eye and was quite concerned and nervous about it, Dr Hussain was so nice and generally cared about my concerns
Actually the whole staff at Maryland Vision Institute in Frederick, Maryland are kind, and made me feel like an individual, all are so friendly. My concerns were eased as Dr Hussain performed a lengthy examination of both my eyes, he has me coming back in a month, to see if anything has changed, which in my case, makes me feel better.
I highly recommend Maryland Vision Institute, I am sure all the doctors who practice there and in Hagerstown are as comforting as Dr Hussain, but I will be seen by Dr Hussain next month, and for now on , which I love, because some places, with a few different doctors that practice at the same facility, you can end up seeing multiple doctors for the same ailment.
I definitely want to see the same Doctor who examined my eyes the first time, to continue being the doctor I see for any appointments and or procedures in the future
