Over 14 years ago, Dr. Pineda and Mass Eye & Ear gave me a life-changing gift--the gift of sight. Before the surgery, I had very thick glasses, and if I lost them, I had to use my hands to find things across surfaces, like my watch. While I wasn't legally blind, my vision was close to that point. I am a monocular patient who was almost blind in my "good eye" because of an acute cataract. Repairing the cataract was a complex and risky endeavor because of severe astigmatism in that eye. The situation was exacerbated because a bad outcome could have left me completely blind. Dr. Pineda was recommended as the world's best cataract surgeon by a retinal surgeon who is equally regarded in his field. He advised that he had flown his own mother to Dr. Pineda for cataract surgery, even though she lived across the country in California. Dr. Pineda assumed the case in spite of its complexity and risk. Within hours after the surgery, 20-20 vision was restored to that eye. Dr. Pineda's work was quick, painless and flawless. Five years later, it has passed the test of time. It's been a life-changing event for me. As "icing on the cake," Dr. Pineda and his staff have provided superb follow-up and support over the years. I'm eternally grateful, respectful and eager to recommend his work.

I left feeling very confident that I am in good hands with Dr. Pineda and his team. I have a rather unique eye surgery to be performed and looking forward to a successful outcome. I'm following up on an earlier review. I had my surgery with Dr. Pineda. The surgery involved anchoring an artificial lens into my eye and reducing the size of my dilated pupil. Complicated? Mass Eye and Ear is a a very busy place for good reason: the Drs, their residents, techs, and surgical teams are some of the best in the world. Dr. Pineda leads one of the most prestigious teams at MEE and does so with exceptional skill and genuine concern and compassion. He listens carefully to his patients, and in spite of his packed schedule, takes his time in the exam room. After several office visits and a surgery, I can say with confidence that Dr.Pineda is consistently at the top of his game. Sometimes the wait at MEE is a little daunting but, in my opinion, always well worth it in the end.

Dr. Roberto Pineda is an exceptionally skilled, compassionate physician. I have vision in only one eye and that vision was fading. Through surgery, Dr. Pineda was able to save my vision. In addition, he was extremely kind as I was, understandably, terrified to have surgery. I will always be grateful.

I ditto all the wonderful things other people have said about Dr. Pineda and will just add this personal note. Dr. Pineda performed a couple of surgeries on my right eye a about two years ago and succeeded where others failed. As one person wrote, he's a world class physician! He also showed total attention and respect at every visit, so much so that I enjoyed seeing him at our appointments despite having to drive across the state to Boston to do so!
