I've been a patient of Dr. Phillips for over 10 years, and I truly can't say enough good things about him. He is an exceptional optometrist who always takes the time to make sure my vision and eye health are thoroughly cared for. Beyond that, he has an incredible eye for style and has helped me choose eyeglass frames that fit my face perfectly every single time. His professionalism, attention to detail, and warm approach to patient care have made every visit a positive experience.

Great visit! I usually avoid going to the doctors due to malicious health insurance practices. However, my visit to this optometrist was very transparent and informative. I greatly appreciated the communication that the lady at the front desk gave me about my coverage. Dr Phillips was great as well, I can finally wear contacts again!

I have been going to BSO for 20 years and I can't imagine going anywhere else. I've been told I eat my brussel sprouts during my retinal scan, when my far/near sight dramatically changed Dr. Phillips works through multiple contact trials to ensure I could keep skiing safely, and don't even get me started on their frame selection! Almost better than going to the salon...beautiful choices and incredible advice from everyone. Thank you!

This place is awesome, they helped me out in a pinch! I walked in without an appointment, having lost my contact lenses while traveling. I left my glasses behind and had only packed enough lenses to last me for the trip. I was truly desperate -- I couldn't really see and had 8 days left before going home. But a very kind man behind the front desk named Patrick helped me get sorted out. I was able to pull up my prescription on my phone and he gave me enough samples to last me 8 days (the remainder of my trip) free of charge. He was kind and professional. I would highly recommend this place and once I move back to the area I plan to be a patient here!

Dr. Phillips is an amazing doctor. I was having migraines. After going to Dr. Phillips, he corrected my prescription and my issues were resolved. I'm truly grateful for his wisdom, attention to detail, and the time he gives to his patients. My husband, Derek also is very grateful to him for his care as well. We will truly miss him and maybe we'll have to travel to California to get our next eye exam!

I can't say enough about Brattle Sq by Market Square optical Dr. Phillips is amazing. His front staff is so helpful. I was having trouble finding glasses and they went above and beyond to find something that not only did I like but actually fit into my budget as well. They are so friendly and nice and so willing to work with you. I highly recommend visiting them. Dr. Phillips may be an excellent clinician, but my experience with this practice over the past year has been consistently frustrating and unprofessional--especially on basic logistics and scheduling. 1) Glasses order delay with no accountability My father visited from China for a couple of months. After his eye exam and prescription, we were told the glasses would be ready in "two weeks." Two months later--after repeated follow-ups--we still could not get a clear, reliable timeline for when they would be completed. He ultimately returned to China without them, where an optical shop made his glasses the same day. The contrast in turnaround time and communication was stark. 2) Repeated cancellations, then zero flexibility for the patient Over the last month, I attempted to schedule a routine checkup. The first appointment was cancelled by the office the day before. The second appointment was also cancelled. When I finally made it to the third appointment, I arrived slightly late after driving there and struggling to find parking--and I was told I had to reschedule again. A consistent double standard What stood out was the mismatch in expectations: when the office cancelled on short notice (twice) and failed to deliver on an optical timeline (for months), there was little urgency, clarity, or ownership. But when I made a minor mistake--arriving a bit late due to parking--I received no comparable grace. I'm sure some patients receive excellent service here, especially those with established relationships. But as a new patient, my family and I felt like an afterthought. Between the unreliable scheduling, poor communication, and lack of practical accommodation (including parking), I can't recommend this practice. There are many optometrists in Cambridge who are both clinically competent and operationally dependable.

Jackie and Hicham were incredible! The eye doctor Lawrence A Phillips meticulous and highly professional approach ensures an extraordinary experience. I have never had such a thorough eye exam before. He explained everything in details. My visit resulted in the perfect prescription for both glasses and contact lenses. I am incredibly grateful! Without a doubt, this is my go-to for eye exams - an absolute gem in the world of optical care!
