In response to Owner (Dr Dickerman) : What she said: "Grace was never in our office and it is not nice to a small business to write multiple reviews for the same event. Grace, you should not write a review for someone else even if its your family. And we do not plan to ever have your family as patients again. They were very rude to my office staff and I will not allow them to be treated badly. -Dr. Dickerman" I will stand up for my family when necessary, regardless of whether I was seen by your office or not. Dr. Dickerman, you should be ashamed of yourself. Not retraining rude and unprofessional staff that were discriminatory toward my family is despicable. I hope you can see this as a warning to how you and your staff treat your patients. We are real people with real experiences. We do not want to come back. Do not bother replying to this review. I will just write another one.

I recommend double-checking your insurance statements after any visit. They charged me more than what I was supposed to pay according to my insurance coverage, and when I brought it up, they made excuses and refused to reimburse the overcharge. The experience was very frustrating and felt dishonest. Make sure to verify all charges!!!

The experience started with the manager emotionally abusing and gaslighting me, making me doubt that my concerns were legitimate. Things escalated when the optometrist shouted and screamed at me--verbal assault that was both humiliating and intimidating--and the initial exam was done incorrectly, giving me the wrong prescription and wasting my time and money. I am filing complaints with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Optometry and the Attorney General's Office - Consumer Protection Division. I strongly advise anyone considering this business to proceed with caution.

The staff were courteous when I was purchasing, however, not when I came back time and again with broken frames. However, I bought four pairs of the same frames made by the company that all broke in the same way from the hinges over about 2-3 years. I spoke with the store manager and staff about being very unhappy about this. They repaired pair number 3 free of charge, yet all the other frames and repairs I paid for out-of-pocket. Pair number 4 has also just broken. I am very unhappy with disregard of my complaint, the fact that these frames are still being sold. At one time the store manager was not courteous. I expect a full refund of all the frames, which amounts to at least/approximately $800. I was also told that use was not gentle which is not true and not based on evidence at all. I also expect a full refund of my time and effort in going back this many times for repairs and continual new frames. Full acknowledgement of the disregard of my continual complaints about this particular line of frames needs to be made. Only quality frames and lenses need to be sold to the customer. I am a local resident and professional, thus I need my glasses to see all reading/writing etc as many others. Thank you. In general: terrible service, disregard of the customer and business only approach in charging as much as possible, without regard to quality. This business needs to Be stayed away from! They also did not respond to my email at all!

Edit: Hello, I genuinely do not know what "treat[ing] people in the medical clinic like you are" even means given that the reviews for your clinic clearly highlight the continuous lack-of-transparency and money-hungry tendencies you and your staff demonstrate. I would just like to advise potential patients of the experience I personally went through given my family and I felt a tremendous amount of disrespect and unprofessionalism. I both emailed the manager and the doctor to receive clarification regarding the process, and never received a response. The service that was "requested" was never clarified to me as a separate process from the general checkup and I still do not know to this day why I was charged for a process I still have yet to receive clarification on. Therefore it was my personal responsibility as a member of the community to explain how my negative experience interacting with your clinic could help others understand why it is important to proceed with caution when interacting with HSEC. Original: This clinic has become increasingly unprofessional, and my recent experience was very disappointing. I used to appreciate the quality of care under Dr. Phamduy, who was always professional and kind, but the level of service has declined significantly since his departure. A few weeks ago, I received repeated texts reminding me that I was overdue for a general checkup. I scheduled an appointment through their online portal, which was confusing to navigate. I noted that I wear contact lenses and mentioned concerns about my vision worsening, but I was under the impression this was still a standard checkup. At no point did the doctor or staff explain that I was receiving anything other than a routine exam. The visit itself lasted around 10 minutes not including the waiting for dilation and felt identical to the general checkups my family members have had. At checkout, I was unexpectedly charged $70: $10 for the general checkup and $60 for a "contact lens service." When my mom asked for a breakdown, the front desk staff were dismissive and refused to provide a physical receipt, insisting it's too confusing for my mom to understand (she's POC). And eventually showed it after she insisted 3 times. The explanation given was that the doctor should have explained the difference between a general checkup and the contact lens service, but he had not done so, and the staff were unable to clarify how the services differed. The overall interaction felt opaque and unwelcoming. When my mom wanted to clarify with the doctor, they said he was gone and said she had to pay on the spot. After she stated she wanted to pay after when she could to speak to Dr and wanted to leave, the manager immediately said cancel her prescription. Attempts to follow up with both the doctor and management for clarification went unanswered. This experience left me with the impression that the clinic prioritizes revenue over transparency and patient care. The lack of communication, professionalism, and respect for patients was disappointing. I am still unclear why I was charged the additional $60, and I would not recommend this clinic based on my experience. If you go here, please be super careful and ask up front what you are paying for with a breakdown because they can be very sneaky.

I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the service provided by the manager of the optical store located on Elm Street in Cambridge, who assisted me on three different occasions, each time showing a lack of empathy and responsibility. First, my husband went to request a new pair of glasses for our son, and he was told that the child needed to be present so they could recheck his measurements. When I later went with my son, we arrived at 6:01 p.m. (the door was still open), but she refused to help us, claiming the store closed at 5:00 p.m.--despite having previously told us it closed at 6:00 p.m. On the third visit, finally with my son present, she did not check anything at all. She only asked for his name and assured me that she would place the order that day. More than three weeks went by with no updates, and when I returned to the store, I was shocked to learn that she never placed the order. I find it unacceptable that someone in a management role would act with such negligence--especially when it involves a child's vision and health. I sincerely hope action is taken so that other families don't have to go through the same experience.
