My mom was in the process of getting cataract surgery and she was assigned to Dr Corin. From our first meeting I didn't like him. He seemed more interested in his beautiful young assistants than patients. My mom had a stroke before she could get her surgery so we had to wait an extra six months before the cataract surgery could be conpleted. She even paid the extra $3,000 for the astigmatism lenses at his behest. At her check up appointments he was quick and rude telling my mom she could see, that it was just her mind telling her she couldnt see and that she would be able to soon if she just believed. He said it was just a mental block because she'd been near blind for so long. Awful bedside manner to patients. She is now considered legally blind. Personally would not recommend but I guess it's hit and miss cause she had friends with good experiences. Guess it depends on the day.
My 9-year-old son recently had an appointment here. The nurse who worked with him was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, patient, and supportive. She made him feel safe and comfortable while answering questions and doing the initial testing.
Unfortunately, when Dr. Corin came in, the experience changed. My son is neurodivergent and has heightened sensitivities. When he became overwhelmed and couldn't tolerate the dilation drops, the doctor told him his behavior was "unacceptable" and said, "You're 9. That's unacceptable behavior." He also dismissed my son when he tried to respond to a question. He told him, "I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to her."
This interaction left my child in tears, feeling like he "wasn't good enough." It was incredibly discouraging after he had done so well through the rest of the visit.
I'm sharing this so the clinic is aware that children, especially neurodivergent ones need compassion, patience, and understanding during medical care. I truly hope the feedback helps promote a more sensitive approach in the future. Every child deserves to feel respected and safe during their appointments.
I had an emergency issue with my eye, and Dr. Corin was great. He was very professional and answered all my questions and displayed much empathy as I was in distress. He was very knowledgeable and has continued to monitor me post treatment.
This Establishment is truly unprofessional, this is the second time I have been to this company for my 10 year old daughter who is also on the spectrum The first encounter we had was terrible. The doctor Who handles the children is completely unprofessional and should not be handling children at all first visit he insulted me by telling me " How hard is it to call and make an appointment for glasses?" During this time, me and my family were going through a situation where we were homeless for some time In a different state at that. I don't wanna get into my full story, but it's the rude unprofessional statements that he makes to parents and children, especially children who have special needs, and who are on the spectrum. He should not be allowed to work in a place of business like this not only was he rude. The staff is completely rude as well except for Kathy, which I'm pretty sure everybody will say that she's amazing. I am no longer bringing my black business there. I should've listened to my instinct. please, if you do not want to feel completely disrespected do not go here if you do not want to see your child be talked down to from a very much aged adult don't go here
The one star is for the nice lady who did my exam besides that I would've gave this place no stars. The wait is ridiculous (I'm talking hours) my apt was scheduled for 3pm. I got there at 2:45 to fill out paperwork and I wasn't even seen until after 4pm. Dr Corin has HORRIBLE bed side manner. I went in for a consult on a stye that I have that's the size of a blueberry under my eyelid that's very painful. As somebody who is on the spectrum, has severe anxiety and also POTS syndrome he was very uneducated and disrespectful. I continuously told him that due to my anxiety and POTS I can not have him remove this stye in office while I'm awake due to me passing out and my heart rate getting up to the 200s (I can't even get a normal eye exam without passing out) he refused and told me to either suck it up and deal with this painful stye or let him do the procedure in office and force myself to pass out. He also kept telling me POTS isn't real and that I'm basically faking it. Super unprofessional. I will never return to this business. I ended up leaving there crying.
Always professional and polite. It is VERY busy, but if you want the best you may need some patience.
Very nice and polite staff. Dr. McQuay was very warm and kind, made me feel like a human being, as most doctors seem to forget the fact that we are just that, human beings. The exam went well and I didn't wait too long to be seen. Very good visit.
A big thank you to Dr DeFreitas for listening and the thoroughness in taking the extra time with your exam to find out what was causing the vision problem. I was promptly scheduled with Dr Lashkari, the retina specialist, a very kind and personable professional, who performed more testing and exams then patiently explained treatment options as well as answered my questions. I felt in good hands with both of these doctors as well as their assistants.
This is a very busy office and you can sometimes feel like cattle being moved through by the staff. Eye contact and greeting go a long way towards a positive patient experience.
