First time seeing Dr. Magalhaes and it was great! I'm a 54 year-old woman and I struggle seeing close up but my distance is OK. I wear cheaters most of the time because they're always on and off throughout my day but he's got me trying bifocal contact lenses which I think are gonna be a game changer. My experience at LensCrafters was a breath of fresh air. The customer service was great. Dr. Magalhaes kept it really simple, informative, and I was in and out of there in no time. If you're in search of a new eye doctor, I highly recommend him. I got in on an appointment quick, I got taken in quick and I got all the information I needed. Thanks

Doctor Magalhaes found a very helpful treatment for my severe eyestrain, which many other eye specialists have been unable to do. His practice is excellent at treating uncommon eye conditions. For common issues they offer cutting edge therapies that you will not find elsewhere. Moreover Doctor Magalhaes himself is thoughtful, perceptive and collaborative and never gives up on his patients, which are the best qualities in any healthcare provider.

Charged me $70 the day I went in for an eye exam and then they charged me card they kept on file without my consent another $50 months later. I did not give them permission to keep my credit card information so regardless of if I owed more for some reason which they told me I was all set the day off. Keeping your clients credit card information is shady and I wouldn't recommend doing business with someone like that.

Dr John Magalhaes and his team helped and went above and beyond for me and my situation. For years I struggled with my vision and quality of life by not being able to see properly. Little did I know I was living with keratoconus. I came in with what I thought would be any ordinary eye doctors visit, needing maybe an updated eye glass prescription, but that wasn't the case. Dr. Magalhaes diagnosed me with a rare eye disease that was preventing me from being able to see properly. He and his team worked tirelessly to help me reach 20/40 vision in both of my eyes for a very important career opportunity that would help change the lives of my family for the better. I had a deadline of meeting my job's requirements of the 20/40 vision marker by July 20th. I only had a month and a half to make said deadline. I informed Dr. Magalhaes of my situation and he was fantastic, actually listening to me and working with me. I saw him for nine appointments during that time period, with each appointment I was stepping closer and closer to that goal. I ended up getting scleral contact lenses which he personally fit and tweeked to the exact fitting of my eyes. By doing so he not only enabled me to passing an eye exam for this new career for myself but also improved my quality of life by giving the gift of sight back to me. I still have some work left to do with the eye disease I have because keratoconus is a progressive eye disease, but I have full confidence with Dr. Magalhaes and his associates to put me on the mend while fighting this disease. I really wish I could give Dr. Magalhaes a higher star rating than just the 5 stars say 10 out of 5 stars because he truly is amazing!!!

This is my second year having my eyes examined here. I thoroughly enjoy the eye doctors. They are very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The reason I did not give 5 stars is due to the experience I had both years with check-in/check-out. They give me the laminated forms to review and sign. One of the paragraphs details, a retinal imaging that will be performed that cost $30. It says to let them know if you want to opt-out of it. I wrote "no"right above that paragraph and I handed it back to the girl assuming that she would review everything I wrote. She brings me back to do the pre-exams and I reiterate that I do not want the $30 imaging and that I wrote no on the form. We had to go back out to the lobby so I could sign a separate waiver That I was not initially provided. I was told that If I did not get this imaging, I would most likely need to have my eyes dilated. This made me feel pressured to pay $30 or have my eyes dilated (I am a patient that does not require dilation due to having naturally large pupils, every eye doctor I've seen confirms this). Personally, I think this imaging should be verbally explained to each patient, including the cost, and that it is optional. It comes off very sneaky that it's just on the one form that they have you fill out, but they don't also provide you with the waiver at the same time to give you that option. Upon checkout, I was told my co-pay would be $40. I knew this was wrong because with my vision coverage my co-pay is $10. The girl reiterated that it was $40 so I had to ask "are you billing my medical insurance Through Harvard or my vision insurance through EyeMed?" Of course it was my medical insurance. Both years in a row that I've come here they default to bill my medical coverage, Without even checking what the cost would be with my vision coverage until I specifically ask. If a patient has vision coverage, that should be the first thing billed as in my experience with vision coverage, it has the lower co-pay. Had I not asked questions and been persistent I would've spent $70 instead of $10. I've even sat in the waiting area and watched other patients seemingly surprised at what they're going to pay once they realized they were charged for that $30 retinal imaging. And at that point it's too late and they have to pay it. I think it would show great care and consideration to the patients if it were verbally explained at some point. That it is optional and that it would be $30, Rather than just putting it on a annual Intake form without also providing the waiver along with it. I understand how it could be very important and helpful to get these imaging for some patients, but it shouldn't feel like a requirement because it is not necessary for every patient. Perhaps rather than having patients sign a waiver to opt-out of this imaging, you should have them sign something to opt-In to the imaging

I loved this office and have been going there for many years. I called to schedule an appointment for myself, my husband, and my daughter and was told that they cannot schedule 3 family appointments in the same day. I have never missed or not show up for an appointment so this seems unreasonable to me. To have to come back the following day is not sufficient.

BEWARE: They only care about how much money they can get from you. I paid $125 (after insurance) to have a contact lens fitting. The contact lens don't fit properly causing blurry vision and when they move they cause irritation and dryness. I called to make a follow up appointment and they want another $75. For what? The contacts they prescribed DON'T FIT!

I have been seeing Dr. Magalhaes for over 15 years and he is very knowledgeable about all elements of the eye care. Has improved my vision 100 percent and solved my running eyes and it improved my vision.Also I had a recent stroke and made sure by testing that it did not effect my vision,and was deeply gratified with his results and made my day when he told me that everything was ok. I would recommend him for all your eye exams for yourself and family.
