Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston - Quincy

I booked an appointment months ago for a month from now that was just cancelled via voicemail, asking me to rebook, with the caveat that there were no available appointments for another year in the Quincy or Weymouth offices. The voicemail (the rep never gave her name) told me I could rebook in the Boston office for August of 2026 - but when I called the number given to ask for a summer appointment, the rep was baffled by that promise, as they, too, have no appointments available until 2027. The office has failed due to overbooking so heavily that patients can't be fit in when their appointments are cancelled through no fault of their own, because of doctor unavailability. If I'd switched practices months ago, instead of trusting this office to see me in March per the appointment, I could have been seen by now. Shame on whoever is managing this entire office as they're clearly putting profits over patients.

I found it easy to make an appointment, staff and optometrist were courteous and efficient. This was my second appointment there. I am looking forward to returning next year.

This clinic is horrendous. The wait time is always over two hours and there is never any update on when you will be taken. My Mom had to have a test which was scheduled for 10:30am and see her doctor at 11:15am. She completed her 10:30am test by 11:00am. She was not taken for her pre-visit to test her sight and eye pressure until 11:50am which made her miss her appointment with her physician at 11:15am. When I asked the assistant how much longer it would be for my own planning, she asked when we needed to leave and when I said 12:30pm because of afternoon meetings, she said "12:30!! Your appointment is at 11:15!" (12:30 would be reasonable in any other setting--I can take PTO for a half day to take my Mom to an appointment, I shouldn't be expected to take an entire day off of work.) Instead of being looped back into the schedule, her physician took every other person that was waiting in the clinic before her and took her last at 12:35pm. Dr. Lisa McHam is an excellent opthamologist and my Mom's Glaucoma is being managed well, but we cannot continue to come here because neither she nor any other Glaucoma specialist is available on Tuesdays when she has handicapped transportation available to her from her Assisted Living and the wait times are unreal. OCB Quincy continuously asks for surveys and your opinion, but nothing ever changes.

This rating was given due to the incredibly disrespectful, extended wait times. This is not a rare inconvenience. This is a chronic inadequacy with time management. I find it extremely disrespectful & inconsiderate, to your patients, to be consistently treated this way. Very unprofessional.

Arrived on time for my 2PM routine eye exam. Checked in paid my $25 co-pay. Very pleasant staff. After I sat down I heard elderly people complain about the wait and the order in which people were seen. Seems they had 6 patients before me still waiting to be seen at 2pm. This is absolutely unacceptable they are overbooking and the majority of people in there are elderly, uncomfortable, using walkers and wheelchairs waiting hours to be seen sitting. The doctor or doctors in charge need to stop overbooking or add additional doctors to the staff. I had to leave and return to work. I felt really bad the patients waiting to be seen. Like us all we have elderly parents and this type of practice is unacceptable to me.

My experience on 12/05/ was very positive. The waiting time was good and the Dr. McCann listened to me with great attention.
