Michigan Eye Institute

Went to the Michigan Eye Institute on March 2nd and had a 7:30am appt. Went in at 7:25am and the desk girl took me right then. Very friendly and was then taken by Zoey who ran me through my tests and was answering any questions I had..Awesome girl! When we were done doing the testing, a short time later Dr. Mahalak came in and did a thorough examination and told me what was going on with my eyes..we discussed what I was looking to accomplish, and he said we can take care of my concerns and we're setting up my next appt. to get the plans in motion!! Great experience and loved everyone there!! Thank you M.E.I staff and Dr. Mahalak!!!

Dr. Gary M. Keoleian, M.D., has provided me with fantastic treatment, including surgery and follow-up visits. He is always attentive, very thorough, and takes his time to answer all my questions. The support staff is always friendly and helpful. The communication provided by my other doctors and healthcare specialists is exemplary. Let me also note that while there is generally a high volume of patients, the wait time is typically only 10 - 15 minutes.

My entire experience there was a very pleasant one. The staff members were all really nice and very thorough in checking out my eyes as well as asking questions to get to the bottom of my problem. As a person with terrible anxiety, I usually leave places feeling worse than when I went in. That was not the case at the eye institute! Thank you all for being so kind and easygoing.

Love this place. They way it is setup, you get all your testing done within an hour or so. I first started going here when I realized I had cataracts. The staff was excellent, explaining every step of my appointment. I set up my surgery a few weeks later, and everything went well. I had no pain, and had my 2nd eye done a week later. The surgery was a success! Love the doctors and the staff, 100% would recommend!! A++

Michigan Eye Institute is a really nice place to get an a exceptional experience in eye care. From the time I arrived until I left for the day, each member of the staff were kind and professional. Each person was skilled and knowledgeable in their aspects of their job! They were patient enough to answer any questions I had asked. I would definitely recommend MEI to my friends and family! We have been coming to Dr David Diskin for 30+ years. We started coming as a family and now it is just the two of us as our three sons have grown. Dr Diskin always ask how our sons are doing, calling them all by name. Great Dr., very caring, pleasant & personable. Pleasant friendly staff.

Everyone who worked with me was patient and knowledgable. My doctor spent time explaining all my issues and my options. I had an assessment elsewhere a year ago and they were so inferior to my care here. Excellent.

If it weren't for the kind staff, MEI would have zero stars. I don't appreciate getting the runaround from the billing department. My routine exam was billed to my medical insurance and not vision, causing a $168 bill instead of $15 co-pay. I asked repeatedly if there was anything medical related that would cause this and got told no with every single follow up call so of course I would want to correct this. They kept saying they sent it over to my vision to correct this, but they never did and still haven't because I follow up with my vision insurance who thinks they're probably sending it to the wrong department. And of course they haven't voided this with my medical insurance either, which they should be doing first so what's really going on. Then I decide to follow up one last time, and the billing department then magically found something medical related BUT even then they told me my eye exam should be paid for and the refraction is what the "medical" is even though this wasn't an issue last year. But even if it was, why was I never informed of this as the patient at the end of the exam or even when checking out? An eye exam is one of the easiest things to bill/take care of and somehow MEI makes it complicated. This is the second time I've had a billing issue with MEI and I'm just done at this point. I hope the staff at whatever new eye doctor I decide to go to are just as kind as they are here.
