I was just at Benchmark Optical and had a wonderful experience. The customer service was outstanding and the glasses I purchased were very affordable and the best I have owned to date. (I have been wearing glasses for over 23 years).
When I saw the other review posted, I was concerned so I called and learned that James M. Carney retired in 2008. (No wonder he's not current. HA-HA!)
As far as i am concerned, best experience I have had at an optical place, EVER!

According to the State of Michigan's website, Dr. Carney's license lapsed on 6/30/12. This information is current as of 4/30/2015. He is also doing business under the name of "Benchmark Optical" despite the fact that this assumed business name was terminated on 9/24/2014, again according to information obtained from the State of Michigan. I learned these disturbing facts while doing an investigation related to overcharges for services. I attempted to resolve my concerns many times with Dr. Carney without success. I DO NOT recommend that anyone use his services since he is dishonest, unprofessional, and unethical in my opinion. BEWARE !!!
