Dr. Matthew T. Lewis, MD

Dr Lewis carefully explained the LASIK procedure while going through the process. My vision feels perfect. It was painless and I wish I had been brave enough to do it years ago. He was extremely professional and down to earth at the same time. His staff is wonderful and very welcoming. Dr. Vann in Fulton highly recommended Dr. Lewis and I am so grateful that he did my procedure!

I was privileged to take my Mom (89) for a Dr. Lewis appointment today. If getting a shot in the eye for macular degeneration can be "pleasant," he certainly made it that way for Mom. As the concerned son, when I asked if I might ask a few questions, his quick response was "Fire away!" He also allowed me to video his comments for the sake of my non-present sisters. I have run my company for 45 years with the theory that "Flexibility is the key to success." Every member of Dr. Lewis's staff must have that as the reason they come to work every day. I cannot express enough how fortunate I am to be sent to Dr. Lewis. After receiving less than adequate eye exam with a different doctor, I opted for a 2nd opinion. That 2nd opinion with Dr. Vann in Fulton, brought me to Dr. Lewis. Dr. Lewis explains what he has found, goes through the procedure with you, has a kind and gentle voice. During surgery, he is just as soft spoken and makes sure his patients are as relaxed as possible. The post op appt, he treats you with the same respect. I opted for a specialty lens, weighing out my cost options. I have now had both eyes completed, no more cataracts, and my vision-oh my goodness, I don't recall when I could see this great! Ending the visits with him, he made sure I understood if I have ANY issues, contact their office. I cannot recommend him enough!

We had a wonderful experience at Capital Eye Care. I had gotten lasik about 15 years ago at Crowne in St. Louis and it was time for a touch up. Dr. Lewis was extremely professional and explained every question in depth. Also he is a very personable doctor. As for the surgery, the recovery was 4 times as fast and also 1/4 as painful as the surgery from Crowne! Also my son got his first lasik at the same time and his recovery was equally good. I would recommend Dr. Lewis to anyone needing eye surgery.

My parents have always said great things about the doctor. However, getting into the exam room to see him is not so easy nor anything I would want anyone to go through. My father is 93 years old and when I made the appointment I was assured our wait time would not be too long and that they would get him in quickly. We get there, the waiting room was overflowing into the hallway. All are wearing masks and the chairs are six feet apart; however, no other doctor's office I have taken him since the coronavirus crisis as over booked nor ran this far behind. The VA takes extra precautions, as does Capital Region doctors, as does Cardiology Associates. This office did not care. They overbook and put their elderly patients at risk. The doctor I go to does not do this. My dad will now go to my eye doctor who is extremely good.

After using Capitol eye Care for a number of years my latest experience has been a a disater. It was a rush job with most of the work done by a technician that rushed you through the exam with a mannerism more like a business executive than someone you would want to trust with your eyes. Even Dr. Lewis was a disappointment compared to years past. I had remarked to my wife that I was surprised with the "rush through" treatment. I have gotten my glasses from physican's optical for many years and do so because they do a terrific job. Well today I got my new glasses and could not even see out of them. So I got a complete refund and will get my eyes examined at the University of Missouri Optical. Then go back to physican's optical so they can get the glasses made based in an eye exam that I can trust.

Dr. Lewis is the BEST. Highly recommend. Dr. Hainesworth is a terrible eye surgeon. I DO NOT RECOMMEND him whatsoever. He blinded me.
