After having cataract surgery, mistakenly, at Mercy and not being happy with the results or care provided, I made an appointment with an ophthalmologist at Mattax Neu Prater and was thrilled with the care I received. In 2024 I saw Dr Engleman and was very pleased with the care I received. I just had a visit with him today and am extremely happy with all the staff at MNP and will be back in a year, or earlier if necessary, for further care that I trust implicitly.
I have recommended MNP to anyone talking about needing eye surgery or care.
You have a well-run busy office, everyone is pleasant and the care is excellent.

The receptionist makes it very difficult to communicate. She gave me medical advice and refused to allow me to speak with a nurse to ask questions. She refused to take my name and number for a call back. I do not recommend this office. I dont think doctors know what happens at their front desk. Top priority should be communication with the first person to come into contact with. Very rude and unprofessional front desk.

Overall experience was great. Dr. Mattax is wonderful and all his surgery support staff were the same. Down side, (which I did not take away any stars for): I had a rather difficult time following the surgery, starting about three hours afterward. While most of the phone support I got was excellent, I felt that one particular phone conversation was very disheartening (the very last one). The individual speaking for the clinic was rude, short and hateful. I will not call again other than to make appointments as it was made clear to me by that last individual that I was being an annoyance. But over all, a great experience; I just won't pursue any follow-up assistance by phone for my next eye surgery here.

My sister had been struggling with new floaters for weeks. I kept encouraging her to reach out to the doctor to see if something more serious was going on. Sarah returned her call and Sarah was rude and condescending and lacked simple, basic compassion as she flatly spoke, lacking compassion to a very scared patient. She stated to me sister that she was just "being honest.... and if you work in a hospital like you've said, then you know it's better to be honest" Honesty was not in Sarah's words. Belittling and cruelty were in her words while working with a population that is just trying to grapple with the truth of aging and all the scary symptoms that accompany that process. I have only one thing to say about all of the above:

Dr. Young is wonderful. He performed my cataract surgery and just recently lasered scar tissue from one of my eyes. I've had no issues from my surgery and highly recommend him. I am not a good patient, but he and his staff put me at ease.
