Update: 3 1/2 years later, perfect vision, eyes feel fantastic, no dry eyes at all. Best gift of my life!
The reason I got my Lasik by Dr. Rothman was because I know 2 other people I've worked with that went to him years ago. Including someone whose opinion I trust highly. I also looked up his education and training. I am an ICU nurse, and there is no WAY i would let anyone get anywhere near my eyeballs with a laser if i didn't fully trust them. He did my Lasik a year and a half ago. It was definitely one of THE. BEST. DECISIONS. I have EVER made!!!!!!!!! I could write pages about the joy of having 20/20 vision and how never having to wear contacts again changed my life! I do wish I had done it earlier in life. I had -3.25 contacts. Dr. Rothman has such a calming voice and is very intelligent and kind. The office flow is so well organized.
The optometrist I used to see was visually bothered when I told her I wanted Lasik. She said not everyone is a candidate, and I felt discouraged to pursue it for another year. I also thought that my mild astigmatism might be a problem. Nope. Dr. Rothman said that it was such a minor astigmatism that it was not even an issue.
I will admit that although I know better, I was very naughty and kept my contacts in frequently at night. I was not taking care of my eyes properly and wearing them longer than I should. I had very dry eyes after the lasik. They had to put plugs in my tear ducts twice, and I was using eye drops constantly. I bought the most expensive drops and tried different kinds. Even bought the overnight eye ointment and felt discouraged. I decided that the lasik was worth it even though I might have to use drops forever. I figured I caused this problem myself by not taking care of my eyes, but lasik was still worth it. There was nothing i could do but use drops and stay hydrated.
My eyes have since healed themselves!!! No dry eyes!!!!! It took about 6 months. The dry eyes slowly improved. So, even if you haven't been the best with your contacts, just go get an evaluation. Perfect vision and my life is changed. This man is a miracle worker. I can see the beautiful mountains and traffic lights way off in the distance overlooking the city at night. Thank you for being an angel and changing my life, Dr. Rothman!!!!!!!!
The people working there are professional and manage to keep the atmosphere light. I never had a problem setting up my appointments. Dr. Rothman was able to correct my horrible vision (I couldn't even see the biggest letter during examination without contacts) to 20/15. With detailed instructions I've been able to care for my eyes during the healing process and have experienced no problems over these last few months and now approach my last check up. While I love my new vision I do not recommend eye surgery for those who lack the ability to control themselves as the urge to scratch/rub one's eyes is constantly there. You really don't notice how much you touch your face until your forced to stop yourself from doing so. I mean how often do you rub your eyes before going to sleep or when you wake up?
The Lasik procedure performed by Dr. Rothman's office ruined my eyes. I have unbelievably dry eyes now, my night vision is terrible, I see star bursts and halos around bright lights, and the severe floaters that appeared in my vision immediately following the surgery are getting worse and have created an uncorrectable blur in my center of vision. What's worse, my vision wasn't properly corrected and I'm still -0.50 and -1.00 in my left and right eye, so I still need glasses. After the procedure, I kept bringing these issues to the attention of Dr. Rothman and his staff. They kept denying anything is wrong and were openly annoyed at my complaints. I wish I'd never elected to have this surgery. I miss my old eyes every day.
I had undiagnosed dry eye syndrome due to years of contacts up until the initial eval with lasik of NV. I had no idea so I thank the office for catching it, but they didn't let me know until day of surgery. On op day, Rothman said that my tear production was 'ridiculously dry' and wanted to redo the dry eye test before the operation. Again, I had no idea, and absolutely agreed. Better safe than sorry. They redid it, but it was weird, only for like a minute (the standard is 5 minutes), and I think they put some eye drops into my eyes during the test, artificially upping my 'tears.' Now, more than a month out, and my eyes are severely severely dry. I need drops every 15 minutes. I've spent so much money on drops, ointments, gels, everything, and changing my habits including blinking much more/heat eyemask treatment. That and my vision for one eye is only mildy better. The other is better than 20/20.
I think the office unethically pushed me into surgery without first addressing and treating my severe dry eye syndrome that they diagnosed. Now, my previously undiagnosed condition is incredibly worse and I have no idea if my one bad eye will get better. Excellent surgeon, and if you have normal tear production definitely go for it. But if you have other things, especially dry eye syndrome that you didn't know about, please please avoid or please get it treated by a corneal specialist or an optometrist before going into surgery. I've read things of up to 1 month of aggressive dry eye treatment pre op in order to avoid the degree of complications I have (since dry eye is common post op, but it should not be to the level I have it).
I have always been a little nervous about vision correction surgery, but eventually could not stand the discomfort from my contacts or glasses. After months of research, reviews, and consultations, I decided on LASIK of Nevada. From consultation to post-op, I couldn't be happier. I felt very at ease on surgery day and Dr. Rouweyha was amazing. He told me what I would expect from the surgery and during the entire procedure. I am extremely happy with my decision.
I was very hesitant about Lasik surgery, so I did my due diligence and research prior to scheduling a consultation with Dr. Rothman at Lasik of Nevada. Not only did they answer all of my questions and concerns about Lasik surgery but they even provided information on things I didn't even know to ask about.
I definitely made the right decision; from the knowledgeable and courteous staff who walked me thru every part of the process, to the professional facility that put my fears at ease, I felt nothing but confident. The icing on the cake is definitely Dr. Rothman, he explained everything as it was happening and I have to say, it went by so fast that there isn't really time to be nervous about the surgery. (It happened in the blink of an eye! Bad pun!)
I followed all of the staffs directions and when I awoke the following morning, it was as if the sky had opened and I was seeing the world with new eyes!
I really had forgotten how great vision can change your life. I feel like I have been given a whole new lease on life and I plan on making the most of it.
Thanks to Dr. Rothman and his staff I truly feel like I couldn't have had a better experience! I will be forever grateful. If your looking to have Lasik surgery, do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Dr. Rothman at Lasik of Nevada.
Dr. Rothman and the staff are amazing. Their level of care and knowledge is exceptional. I felt safe and well cafes for the whole time. I wish I would have done LASIK sooner, the results are amazing. I recommend that anyone considering corrective surgery go to LASIK of Nevada. They're by far the best.
I couldn't wear contacts anymore and glasses gave me a headache, so I opted for Lasik. I went for consultations at several Lasik centers in Nevada, but ultimately chose Lasik of Nevada because of their success rate with Lasik as well as their friendly and helpful staff that answered any and all questions I had about the procedure and the followups. My vision wasn't too horrible to begin with, and a slight astigmatism. Six months later, I'm seeing 20/15 and still affirm that getting Lasik at Lasik of Nevada is one of the best decisions I've ever made.
