My vision is now ultra-high definition 4K!
I'm a 76-year-old cardiologist who recently had cataract surgery with Dr. Wong, and the difference is incredible - an ultra-high definition 4K vision. My vision had deteriorated slowly to the point I lost confidence in driving at night and avoided it whenever possible. But after two quick cataract surgeries, my sight is better than I can ever remember, having worn eyeglasses since grade school. No need for glasses now! And the improvement in my night vision when driving is even more remarkable.
Dr. Wong is an exceptional eye surgeon who took the time to thoroughly explain each step, which gave me great confidence in the procedure. His expertise and attention to detail are unmatched, and the care I received from the entire team at the Surgical Center of Central Jersey was outstanding. I was amazed by how smooth and comfortable the process was, from the initial consultation to the post-surgery follow-up. If you're a Medicare senior avoiding night driving, now's the time to get your eyes checked. Dr. Wong and his team truly deliver life-changing results, and I cannot recommend them enough.
Do not go to this doctor! i went for a consult for lasik and he said i was the perfect candidate. I told him i have dry eyes and he completely dismissed it. He didn't even do a physial examination of my eyes to see how dry they were. I left thinking i'll prob get the surgery but i thought it was best to get a second opinion. thank god i did!! I went to a dr in north jersey and he examined my eyes and said i'm not a good candidate for lasik bc my eyes are very dry. He said if you get them under control, then we can reevaluate. In the mean time, Dr Wong called me to pressure me having the surgery!! wth??? thats when I realized i def made the right decision. Also, in the mean time, i watched a poscast with Dr. Cynthia MacKay , eye surgeon for over 40 years. Shes completely against lasik. says 40% of people who get lasik have complications . i will never get it !!!
I had Lasik with Dr. Michael Wong many many years ago. It was amazing how well I could see, and how the office staff and Dr. Wong were so attentive. I have been going there every two years for the last few years and basically nothing has changed. The office staff/ assistants are all very pleasant and Dr. Michael Wong is still answering all my questions , and being patient with any concerns that I may have with other eye issues. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a smart, patient and thorough eye doctor.
I had similar bad experiences as the others, I wish I had read these reviews before getting my Lasik from Dr. Wong. He adjusted my visions so that one eye was for far distance and another eye for short distance. Shortly after the surgery I felt really weird with the vision, with one eye overworking it seems, he said I just needed to get used to of the new vision and it will take time. He also prescribed reading glasses so it was supposed to help me adjusting to the new vision. I tried getting used to this new vision, little had I became aware that my vision was deteriorating over time. Within two years, I started having trouble seeing anything that's a few feet away. After many attempts of booking an appointment with him (trying to book in September and was told for an appointment in 2023) I had to go through another doctor first so that doctor could help me get to Dr. WONG. Long story short, he proposed that I do a second enhancement at a discount for another thousand. I asked for a different doctor this time and he said that the other doctor doesn't want to "jump in", and that only he can do the 2nd surgery. I felt I had no choices but now after reading the other reviews, I would rather spend more money elsewhere. It is my eyes after all and it's not something to be saving money on. I already spent 5K the first time around, very disappointed with the results and how this practice responded to my situation. The other doctors may have been better but apparently once you are with Dr. Wong, you can't change doctors.
I was referred about 18 years ago to Dr Wong for Lasik eye surgery by a friend who is an opthamologist. I had been near-sighted since I was eleven, and had worn glasses and contacts. I am now 62. In the 18 years since the surgery, I've enjoyed good distance vision without corrective lenses. This has been a blessing for me. I have not seen Dr Wong in some time, but always found him to be attentive to my questions and concerns.
I had lenses replaced in both eyes by Dr. Wong. I followed his strict instruction and have much improved vision in both eyes.
During my followup visit, I tried to tell him that I was having problems reading because of severe "floaties". He grew angry and told me they would eventually go away. It's been 4 years now and they are as bad as they were right after the operation. I dont know what my options are. Do I sue him? Make sure you get all your questions answered before surgery and get other opinions. As he calls it, "The Wong Way" isn't necessarily the best way. Do your homework.
got my lasik done in early 2015 for both eyes because I was told by Dr.Wong I am a perfect candidate. My prescription had been stable for years until that time so I thought I was ready too.
I followed all the instructions. At my first follow up visit (1 month later), my right vision was already -0.25.
Wong told me this will go away. I told them I see massive halos and he said to ignore it like an "itchy sweater" and it will go away. 3 months later my vision became progressively worse.
I went back to see him and guess what...i need glasses!! (-0.75 in right eye and the left eye is catching up).
He said the glasses are temporary and I would only need them at night time. My vision will go back to 20/20. it hasn't.
Now my vision is progressively worse in daytime as well and I need glasses all the time. Either he is lying or he does not know what he is doing is my assessment.
I am very very disappointed. I spend a lot of money and more importantly was very optimistic but this is a disaster. Especially since he had told me I would never need glasses again for the rest of my life.
I regret going here.
Not recommended at all. He implanted lenses in my eyes from a company where he is an advisor. Although I was skeptical of this I went along. Once he had me as you as a patient, I felt like I was just an account. The lens did not help much; an impartial doctor would have chosen the best lens for me, whether or not it's "their"lens. His fees are much higher due to the hype he gets. Too much hype and bad service. Not recommended. Does not accept some of the best insurance either so be ready to be treated like an account and pay top dollar.

Because of his seminal work in cataract and laser surgery, he was accorded the Innovators Award by the New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame. This award draws from all fields and honors only four scientists each year. Dr. Wong is the first clinical physician to be honored in this manner. His innovation, colloquially called the "Wong Way," has achieved international recognition for making cataract surgery safer. Dr. Wong's research has put him in the forefront in developing the "advanced technology intra-ocular lenses" which treat age-related near vision loss (the ReSTOR IOL) and astigmatism (the toric IOL). He is one of only eight "mentors" country-wide tasked to set standards of care and teach other eye surgeons the nuances of this new tech.
